smokinjoe
I really like the Beam peanut note, but if I want to tone it down, I go to this label without the higher cost of other Beam offerings. Regardless of these comments, I love most everything Beam. It’s just about finding the lanes. And when I find a lane, I dive in and wallow in it.

smokinjoe
Worked in a front patio fire in the Solo a couple weeks ago, but have my first fire started in the back patio fireplace right now, with a pour of a very good Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit.
markandrex
This was our major yard/leaf clean up day. We spent about 6.5 hours outside on a beautiful 70 degree day. The yard looks great and most of the beds are cleared out and bedded down for winter. I am definitely feeling the 30+ dumps on the mower. We will likely have a least one more outside day but nothing like today. Poured a heavy glass of WTKS and just relaxing.

Ok maybe a 2nd and a 3rd pour. Hey, if you have one that tastes so great, you'd do the same, hehe. Last in my glass tonight is Barrell Bourbon batch 26. This is one of my all time favorite Barrell bourbons ... and I've tried a lot of them. Yes, I'm sorry but the marzipan note is real. Sorry to disappoint y'all, but it's not just a Minnick thing.
Clueby
Had a MM night last night with a fellow SBr. RC6, SE4xPR5, FAE-01&02, BEP, Cellar Aged, an older bottles of PS and Cask Strength (maybe 2015 ish). Didn't have either of the BRTs. Out of the WFS bottles, the FAE-02 and BEP were standouts. The RC6 and FAE-01 were at the bottom of my list. The older CS had a "dusty" quality. The older PS stole the show...until Cellar Aged. All I can say is wow! Well that's not all I can say..it was flat out delicious. Super fruity bursting with red fruit notes. It was described as biting into a really juicy red delicious apple. Caramel, some wood, vanilla, something like a chocolate malted milk ball to me. Maybe some strawberries. Just wow. I thought I was gonna be disappointed. It was far and away better than everything else on the table. We brought out a Bernheim BP and STELLAR Weller FP pick to try against it since they were wheat and had similar proof. The Weller had a sour note when tried sbs. Had to be all the MM tasting just setting the palate and the Weller was too different. The Bernheim held up a little better but the top MM bottles overshadowed it. I almost didn't want to like Cellar Aged this much. Anwalt
Has anyone tried HHSS 7y finished bottles from the distillery tour? We happened to be driving from Knoxville to Covington. And by pure dumb luck 2 seats opened up for that tour. I look forward to trying those 3 selections. I've generally been happy with HHSS, but the others were all 14y. We'll see how this one goes. Hoping that the gift shop has some ECBP C922, we'll see.

Thomm
Dickel 8 year bourbon tonight. This was my second go at this bottle. I was in the basement earlier today, organizing some drawers in a workbench. Whenever I find myself in the basement lately, I pop corks on open bottles and give em a whiff. Kinda like keeping track of my kids (albeit the less desirable ones who reside in the basement). Anyway, I sniffed this particular bottle and got a cherry note. Fast forward to now, and whatever cherry note I had imagined is definitely not there. It isn't on the nose, and it absolutely isn't on the palate. I get a very short, light brown sugar sweetness that fades into an oaky tannin. Almost like the oakiness you might get from a strong red wine, like a Cabernet Sauvignon. Then the trademark chewable vitamin makes its presence known. As it lingers, it seems to melt into a rock salt minerality. Also present is a warm Farina breakfast cereal, flavored with butter and white sugar. And Cap'n Crunch cereal. Not Peanut Butter Crunch or Crunchberries, but regular old yellow, roof-of-the-mouth-shredding Cap'n Crunch. I don't know if my palate is way off or I have a hard time relating what I taste to a comparable known flavor, but this was my experience tonight. Makes for an interesting pour.
