It was overcast but warm here today.  I decided to run the riding mower over the yard to pick up the loose leaves and sticks that have fallen.
Now I’m enjoying a WLW while the sunsets and enjoying the last of the day.

Opened a 13.5-14 y/o KC 120 store pick last night from 2020. Price tag still on it.. 49.99. Miss those being everywhere for a couple years.

I have the last bottle of a case and a half 13+ year old KC from 2017. Don't know why I haven't opened it yet but I give it a kiss once in awhile. It was my fav of 2017. Can you have sex - no, never mind...

Of the releases since the bottle change, this is far and away my favorite Baker’s. Truth be told, I’m not sure I even had an older wine bottle one I enjoyed more.  Picked it up today, and I’m going back tomorrow for more from this barrel.  😋

It's A Trap!!!

Had a 8yr 7mnth Bakers SiB back in October that was above and beyond all previous older 7yr bottles. It was friggin fantastic. Rushed to get another, not there but an 8yr 10mnth was.

It's ok but still in the cart, if that tells you anything...

Was thinking about you as I reached for one of the W107s you scored for me. Not quite ready yet; good chance tomorrow is the day...

I also have an 8yr 7 mo with the same barrel-on month as yours.  And mine is also excellent.  Unlike some others have reported, I've yet to have a subpar barrel since they went to SiB.  I just recently picked up the oldest aged one I've seen yet (8yr 10 mo) and I'm curious how it stacks up.

P.S. @smokinjoe your post looked so good on this Friday afternoon I decided to make this my first HHAH pour (happy hour at home).  Cheers 🥃

The KC the other night made me want Bookers. In think I prefer the younger, peanut-ier, sweeter, less oaky Bookers.

Many times I do too.  That's a good observation by you ... you know what you like.

For me, it depends on the mood I guess.  For me, on a given night (and with some younger batches) my palate finds Booker's on the young/hot side. But there's rarely a night when KC doesn't hit the spot.  If I could only have one forever I'd probably pick Knob Creek.

It has sentimental/shock value. The Wifey is not a fan of The Habit. Thankfully the Mother in Law (who at 79 is still hot - not kidding) who lives with us told Wifey "He does not mess with other women. Or gamble. Or do drugs. Or even like nice cars. Let him have his damned whiskey". Glorious silence followed.

So fast forward, we are at HH. Wifey has arms crossed, eyes rolling, etc.

And then out of the blue - gifts from the gift shop. Olive branch. Truce. Acceptance, mostly.

All embodied in a little bit of well-fused sand.

I hope you enjoy it! Meeting you and your wife was an absolute delight.

My FedEx guy over there got me a 4RSP. As more accumulates we'll have to revisit!

In re SFTB - the 120.2 blew the 131.4 away.

The increase in flavor was waaaay offset by the increase in ethanol.

Which is the perfect answer.

I can trade the higher-proof ones (for more stuff) to the proof hounds and enjoy those "low" proof 120's.

<sigh>. Contentment.

Yessir I am.  As a matter of fact, she just picked up a KC store pick for me on her way home.  That's definitely not the norm, but every once in awhile she surprises me.

That was my next question ... how those SFTB stacked up.  Thanks for posting the feedback.

Now (OK, "later") for the "It's been open for a while rematch". I'll probably have to do them blind. But the difference struck me as being quite stark. I'd be disappointed (not for the first time) to not be able to pick them out blind.

I feel the same way about Bookers. And Larceny. I think the "lower" proofs are still quite high - and better, overall.

But not ECBP. It does well at the higher proofs, at least in my....book. But I also very much enjoy the "lower" proofs, the A122 being a case in point. Still processing the ECBP's. I love them all at 12 (or so) years, hard to pick favorites! More blinds needed. I can tell the difference between the 8's and the 12's, that's for sure.

Learning!

I never remotely thought I would enjoy this bottle as much as I have.  It’s oiliness and chewiness over a nice oak and Goetze’s Caramel Cream backbone has been a very surprising and nice experience.

Well I guess it's gonna be a Beam night.  Started with Baker's SiB.  Now a pour of KC120, a Lincoln Rd pick.

Finishing off this Beam night with a pour of Booker's B96-C-15.

8 yr 3 mo Booker's is no joke.
