The KC the other night made me want Bookers. In think I prefer the younger, peanut-ier, sweeter, less oaky Bookers.

I agree.   Extreme age is not always a virtue.   7-8 years seems just about ideal to me,  where the best balance tends to occur between sweetness and oak.

Another beautiful day in KY.  I’m sitting on the deck with a glass of ER.
I need to fire up the grill later for dinner.  I’ve got some chicken thighs marinating in an onion vinaigrette dressing.
I may be out here for a while.  Luckily it is a fairly new bottle.  Rain tomorrow so Cheers to the day!

I had to look her up. I watch very little TV/movies.

The book is by Niall Ferguson, who is one of my favorite authors. The man's genius is on the same level as Thomas Sowell.

The mere mention of Thomas Sowell merits a thumbs up!

Hefty pour or two of FRSiB.  Just because it is Hump Day.

I e been ripping through this 4RSB.  As I was pouring my end of day reward, I noticed that it was an ME Rickhouse Number.  Several years ago there was great fanfare for ME 4R bourbons.  Honestly, I thought it was overblown hooey then, and don’t believe it has any impact on my enjoyment of this bottle, now.  But, this bottle is very good.  And, since I ain’t got no other reason to explain why, perhaps I’ll start another ME Fever!  🤣

I remember the ME fever.  And I've also noticed that ME has come around again.  Full circle, heh.

I'm a fan.

It seems to have gone missing from shelves lately.

Spent some quality time last night with a Yellowstone SB I picked up a couple years back at the Distillery. A dear friend accompanied me on the trip that year and both of us were blown away by that particular SB. He lives in the northwest and I vowed to not kill the bottle until he is present so its a special occasion pour. We were on a phone catch up last night so it seemed appropriate and I have yet to enjoy a pour from this bottle that doesn't equal or exceed my recollections from the previous pour. To me for all those reasons it is one of my favorite bourbons I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I don't know who made it, rumors of HH and Barton have been suggested but damn, it is one FINE bourbon.

I saw a post from @Harry in WashDC about HH 7 BIB. So, I opened one up and had a nice pour last night. 😛

I still pulling on this puppy while fuzzily watching TV.  Almost finished my kitchen clean-up duties.  Only have about 650 ml to go before it is emptied.  For whatever reason, I really like the HH BIBs.  The higher proofs/older ages in sister/brother brands are OK but not something I seek.  THIS stuff really appeals to me although I've tried multiple times to "document" my notes on it and have not been able to pin down the characteristics that catch me.  Is kind of like LOVE - I now it when it grabs me by the whoopies, but for the life of me, I cannot tell you WHY some things grab me and others pass me by.

Sipping on some older 4R single barrel tonight, the standard SiB bottling.  I am not a hundred percent sure, but I believe this one was bottled in 2013.  One of the bottles I picked up when I was building my bunker and when I knew this brand was probably at their peak, with Jim Rutledge retiring.

This stuff is absolutely fantastic, ... has that prototypical Four Roses thick & heavy floral spice that got me hooked on 4R to begin with.  Hail to the Cult indeed.

I’ve been on the road for the past five weeks. Just coming home for the weekend to detox a little and get some clean clothes. Nice to sleep in my own bed for more than a couple nights. And to reach for some bourbon without feeling like I need to abstain. W12 the choice to get back into my routine.

I'm drinking away the last of the Early Times BIB that I didn't love, but didn't really have a problem with. Wouldn't ya know it, I'm really digging this tonight.  Oh well, say goodnight, Gracie!

Returning to this after a couple of weeks.  I remember not liking this at first and reported that in, I think, the "what did you pass on" thread.  But, this has really opened up and I'm liking it a lot.  There's a great spicy, candy apple nose and a great, rich, graham cracker sweetness on the palate.  It's like Rebel 100 turned up to 11.  For $27, this is a bottle I would buy again.

Welcome home. Enjoy your  surroundings. The medical effects of WT12 will surely help your recovery from the road.  Rest easy.

Cheers

Always nice to find we like an expression, that we previously didn’t enjoy. It makes it even better when it is a value.

Cheers
