fishnbowljoe
Went to the Legion last night for a couple of beers and a cigar. Got stood up by @JerseyDon. I stuck around anyway. It was Karaoke night. Long story short, a female bartender (off the clock) that knows l like bourbon wanted me to try something new they recently got in. I tried to pass. She was buying a round for a group of us at one end of the bar, and she insisted. Who was I to argue? Turns out it was Woodinville. I was pleasantly surprised. So much so, that I had another pour of it later on.

Obviously, it wouldn't be "no, thanks but I have to go to work tomorrow." I like all things Woodinville. One of the best "craft" distillers out there. I passed on a Woodinville barrel pick today. It was 5 years and 120+ proof. I will probably need to go back at some point and pick one up. However, I find the standard Woodinville to be quite stellar. Shhh...don't tell @flahute but he was the one who posted about it so I gave it a try and now I try every iteration I can find. I am drinking a private pick ECBP 9 year 118 proof. This makes me feel like a proof cradle robber. Me to the barrel proof police officer - "But, sir, I could have sworn that the label read 125 proof." Anwalt to me - "Hey, mbroo, I am here to defend your honor sir. But, 118 proof will be difficult to defend." Just being silly guys. IU is playing Purdue tonight but my television is on the Hallmark movie. I need to entertain myself somehow.
Wedelstaedt
I made some oatmeal cookies for Ms. Wedel, earlier this evening. Naturally, I had to try a few. I prefer milk with my cookies, but a nice bourbon is a welcome change. My brother recommended a wheater to pair with the treat. This is the one I chose. Cheers

Dang Joe, that is just wrong. I’m really sorry to hear that. If you aren’t getting to enjoy Weller, then there just isn’t any justice in the world. I hope your local starts helping you out. Anwalt
This one is really good. I need to compare it to the various Wellers. Happy to have paid $70 for it.

Aside from the 86 proof experiment/debacle, it's pretty much impossible to go wrong with any iteration of MM....

My “Weller cellar” is far from empty, but nor is it overflowing. I may not be the ”Weller Whore” I once was, but rest assured I’m still a “Wheater Whore”. I’ve bought a crap ton of MM and MM 101 over the last year or so. I love MM almost as much as Weller. The prices around here make it hard to pass up even if I don’t need any. What can I say? FWIW, I had a nice sized pour of MM last night. I decided to go grab a snack, so I figured I’d freshen up my pour. I did so with MM 101. Cheers!
Skinsfan1311
It still chafes my cheap-ass to have paid $49.99 for this. That said, it's pretty damn good.
Anajoul
Hey guys! Have you guys stumbled upon Mizunara Oak chips? They've been creating quite a buzz lately. It is now avaliable in US on MizunaraCraft. com. They say all it takes is a sprinkle of chips to give that bottle from your collection the extra time in the barrel it craves Any takers? I would love to hear someone's first hand experience. Thanks

fishnbowljoe
Just to put some of y’all’s fears to rest, I climbed a Weller step ladder last night. Celebratory pours of Weller SR, my 2023 Weller Blend, and 2007 WLW were enjoyed. I didn’t care who won The Super Bowl last night. I’m celebrating winning the first quarter and final score in our family pool. It’s mostly just for fun at only 25¢ a square, but we’ve been doing this for years and I’ve never won. Hey, $15.00 is $15.00.

Hey, $15.00 is $15.00. Ha ha - I won the 2nd and 3rd quarter scores in a $5 charity squares for $50 a pop. Taking SWMBO to dinner tonite to collect my winnings and giving $50 back to the Charity. Seems only fair . . . especially after drinking L&K WFP while watching a game where I didn't have a dog in the fight.

I like it, but I won't be replacing it in the future unless the price drops below $40.00. There's just too much good whiskey in the $50.00 range to justify spending it for this. Give me WT101 over this all day....
