I just picked up a few more ORVW15's from a stash I recently found in LA. Hit a few more stores and came across two Old Fitzgerald BIB's from DSP16. Tasty treats!!!

Nice score!

What are the prices like out there?

The ORVW15's that I've found here were from $38-41 (before the 10% discount the merchants gave me, bless their hearts) , and just the other day I picked up some OFBIB DSP16's for $12.39 each (thanks to a tip from Yellowjacket!).

Jim Beam white label was the subject of the second harshest review I've written on SB.com.

After you have formed your impressions of it, I invite your comments in that thread.

I bought a 1.75 bottle of Old Charter 12 yo since I read here that it may become unavailable. I really like the 10 yo so I expect the 12 yo will be as good or better.

In April of 2006 I bought a bottle of Pappy 15 and Balvenie Doublewood, but they disappeared. Tonight I found them in the garage on a shelf under a blanket. They've been through 2 summers out there. I wonder how they survived. May have to crack them open this weekend.

.....that Doublewood is good stuff as is the Pappy. Hopefully the corks are intact.

Awesome. That's better than finding change in a pocket!! I would guess that if they were upright, they should be OK. One of my bunkers is in my garage, and everything I've pulled from it has been OK. And, some of that has been in there a couple of years.

Yesterday, picked up a 1792 Ridgemont Reserve, because I've not had that one in a while. Also, stumbled across two Evan Williams Milleniums.

I have a friend, in Portland, that loves bourbon and Balvenie. He swears on a stack of bibles about how good the Portwood is. I'll hopefully be trying that later tonight. I've had the 10yr, the double wood and maybe even their limited release New Wood 15yr.

Not a big fan of the Balvenie line of scotches however, the Doublewood is pretty good at it's price point.

Today, I had picked up a bottle of lot B, I haven't bought it in a while cause I have had so many bunkered. But I finally ran out and want to replace some.

Man has that stuff taken a price increase! I remember it being around $35 or so, last year. It was $43.99 plus tax... Right next to it was Pappy 15 for $45.99. So I sit the lot B down and picked the 15 yr up. I really like the lot B, its one of my favorites, but man, 2 dollars less than Pappy 15...

I'll probably be back in there in a few days for the lot B, though.....

That is expensive for Lot B. Here in VA they've gone up about $4 over the last year +. It sells for $36 now.

Minimum price in Michigan for Lot B is $54.98,and PVW15 is 59.95, of course the store owner can charge more and most do for high end products.

Holy Cow!

$55 for Lot B? Like I said, I've seen the price slowly go up over the last year+ so maybe it's time to start bunkering those bottles. I love Lot B but at $55 a bottle, that would be hard to keep as one of my daily pours.

I was at a store this weekend, and the Lot B was actually $4 more than a bottle of PVW15! The Lot B was $49.99, when will it stop?

Economics= Supply and demand. Lot has been $40 out here and has stayed that way. However...Eagle Rare up at least $5, All of the Weller, Wild Turkey, ETL, even Makers has risen 20%.

Just too many of us looking for the pours that are all discussed on this and other boards.

I would love to have run across some Lot B...with the exception of the PVW 20, the other VW products are hard to find or non-existent in our WA Stores.

I made a drive (fortunately not a long one) to pick up some Henry McKenna SB but it turned out it was just regular Henry McKenna...I had called to check that they still had the SB, turns out the Gal working there was just looking at the regular bottle.

So then I made a drive to another store that normally has a nice variety only to find the "typical" bottles available. Which I guess is still not a bad thing, just not exciting. I ended up with a WT101, EC12, and a Ridgemont Reserve.

I will have to save some cash up so the next time VW 15 or Lot B shows up I can stock up on it!

And resort to mail order I did..already...I wanted to get my neighbour (who is our vet) a thankyou gift for some nice service. I have bought him Bourbons before but nothing at the store really sent me. He is originally from New Orleans...so I went to binnys and ordered a couple bottles of Saz for him...that will be something he would not normally do himself I think, and a nice treat. I picked up one for myself as well of course :)

The bottle of Rock Hill Farms arrived today. Apparently the purveyor perceives the laws of Arizona differently than do Sam's, Binny's and Hi Time. Strange.

Although not nearly as strange as paying $20 to have a single bottle shipped from NJ, when I could have had it shipped from Phoenix.

As I said before, I absolutely did not expect the order to be accepted, much less filled.

Just got an email from Binny's today. WA. does not allow them to ship!

:frown:

Ah well for a fleeting moment I was looking forward to some Saz Jr. The State has beaten me again!!!! The Man has a long reach...

A quick look at their laws basically seems to say that only wineries and brewers can ship to consumers...it does not include retailers shipping.

According to the federal ruling as long as the laws are the same for both import and export they can basically limit it any way they like.
