ratcheer
A 375 ml bottle of Wild Turkey 101 for our beach trip, this coming week. We also bought 375's of tequila, triple sec, and Tanqueray.Tim
tango-papa
In a little shop in Stresa Italy they had one bottle of Four Roses that looked different from all of the others. 75cl, 43%ABV, hmmm, that is odd. So when I took it to the cash register the proprietor lady said "let me tell you something about this bottle" , "we have had it here since 1973, this is the last one". She wanted me to open it in my hotel and report back to her how it tasted, but I wanted to make sure it would survive the trip home. It survived. What a fantastic dusty-bottle find - congrats! Please do let us know how it tastes.I've been too busy with work the past two weeks for any huntin', so I'm enjoying reading about all the recent finds listed above! ~tp
ggilbertva
Just for grins, stopped into an ABC today and found among the many EW 1783 Old No 10's, a bottle of 10 year so grabbed that. Also came across a bottle of AAA 10 year.
Iluvanejos
Took a short trip to Orlando to see my brother play, and stopped at a small liquor store. Wanted to find some dustys, but none to be found. I was surprised to find two bottles of Weller Centennial, though, on sale for $19.99. Took them both home with me. Now I just have to find a good reason to open one. (Maybe I will save the opening to the night of our fantasy football draft!)
TNbourbon
...She wanted me to open it in my hotel and report back to her how it tasted, but I wanted to make sure it would survive the trip home. It survived. My bet, Rob, is that you've already made such an arrangement -- but, please, let the lady know what she asked. For whatever reason, there is something poignant, to me, that an Italian lady would care to know your impression of her last sample of a 1973 version of our 'native American spirit'.For every loud-mouthed Yankee-basher in Europe and elsewhere -- and be sure the media will seek them out! -- there are vast numbers of people who love all things from the United States of America. I honor them whenever I can, and encourage y'all to do the same.

Phischy
That pisses me off that we in the USA home of Bourbon can't get some of these bottles! EVEN at the distillery!!! I think even if it's marketed for 'export only' you should still be able to buy it at the distillery. What a gyp.
RedVette
I honor them whenever I can, and encourage y'all to do the same.Yeah, she was a sweetheart. Her English was excellent but very heavily accented, which made her even more charming in my eyes. We have the address so I will be dropping her a line. RedVette
Here is a Bourbon I DID NOT purchase today. At the duty free store in Nice France the only Bourbon they had was Woodford Reserve, and it was priced at 45 Euros! That is $62.50 at todays exchange rate! I passed on that Duty Free bargain. snakster
ERSB on closeout in PA. 1.75L bottle for 35.99. How could I NOT buy it? Of course the bottle is so dang tall, it doesn't fit anywhere standing up.While on vacation last week in the outer banks, I picked up a couple bottles of Bernheim wheat. First time I had it and it is very east drinking. Picked up a couple because I can't get it here.
mgilbertva
AAA 10 yr. I didn't expect to find it here in Virginia but apparently there's the odd store here and there that has some sitting on shelves. So I tapped my contact at VA ABC to do a search for me and he pointed me in the right direction.

CrispyCritter
I took a trip to a certain store in Chicago that specializes in unusual, hard-to-find bottles, and picked up another Four Roses Single Barrel.I saw some other very interesting bottles there, too - like a Weller 19. I took a look at the price tag on that bad boy, and almost freaked - I could get Laphroaig 30yo for less! What the market will bear, I guess, but my market isn't bearing it.There was also some WT Tribute, and some BT Experimental Twice-Barreled, but they wanted $100 for the BTEC, and I wasn't even going to ask what the Tribute would cost... the FRSB was at least fairly reasonable. ggilbertva
Picked up a bottle of AAA 10 year and Fighting Cock. Prices were pretty good too. AAA $13 and FC $14. Both good pours for a bargain.

How much was the Weller 19? They seem to go for $250-$350 on Ebay. (Amazing for barrels of bourbon Julian Van Winkle passed on when bottling HIS Pappy 20's back then) Thanks. Link to comment
Phischy
So a hunting I did go. I was going to wait a week but I was bored and a buddy wanted to go as well, so off on a mini-road trip. I picked up the Saz, Handy, ER17 and the ER10 (the ER 10 was selected by the store). First 3 were $70/ea for the '06 and the guy told me the entire BTAC '07 would start at $50 until supplies ran low. Unfortunately over the phone he told me he had the W. Larue Weller but was mistaken in that they only had the W.L. Weller. Major bummer. I picked up the 2 bottles of GTS '06 and the Lot B last weekend. Amazing that of hte Lot B I've only seen it at po-dunk stores and I still know where a 3rd bottle is. If anyone knows where I can find the Larue Weller in So Cal...please let me know! Guy I was with bought the GTS & ER17 plus Rain, the vodka made at BT. I was actually going to get some of that as well but my wallet was already crying. Even late to the game I think I did ok!

Besides the GTS being a great find, that Saz and Handy are terrific finds almost a year after release. Nice job.
ILLfarmboy
While I was down in Peoria this morning taking the dog to the vet I had an hour or so to kill (while waiting for the anesthetic to wear off) after talking with the doctor so I decided to check out a couple liquor stores in the area. I snagged a bottle of ER17 '06 and a bottle of Baby Saz. This place had an awesome selection:bigeyes: I'm less familiar with the Peoria area than the Galesburg thru the Ilinois-Iowa Quad Cities area so I very rarely shop down there. But I will be going back!!
Phischy
Well it looks like Flash Puppy didn't empty out all of San Diego. I bet if he hadn't been deployed he'd have hunted out the stores I'm starting at now.For stores I was 1 for 7 today in turns of hits.I picked up the PVW 15yr...only bottle I've seen down here in a long long time.Having just bought the BTAC '06 my booze funds are dry so I couldn't let that 15 sit but I did pass on:BHC Weller Centinnal (x1) and Old Fitz (x2) Bookers (x2 old label) and PVW 20yr (x2). In a few weeks I'll go pick up the dusty BHC bottles.
