Last night I arrived in Atlanta for some work-related training, will be here for 8 days. Bought a bottle of Weller Antique and will be having that for the duration.

Last night I had some Centennial 13 yr and then 2 pours of ORVW 10/107 ... great stuff.

This afternoon I had a nice pour of EWSB 1995. First time with that one and I thought it was better than the '96 or '97.

I drank a brand new bottle of Vintage 17 and maybe 200 ml's of Old Rip Van Winkle 10 years 90 proof.

Already I do not feel well.

Wish for me luck tomorrow morning.

Kindest,

Geb

I had a spicey Sicilian sub sandwich for lunch accompanied by some of the mildly spicy Blenheims Ginger Ale, and wanted a little bit of whiskey to chase it for dessert.

Handy popped into mind, and that, my friends, was the right choice. The tasting comments on the fact sheet for Handy mention allspice, ginger, and I think that's right on the money. I also find caramel, molasses, a barnyard-raisin element found in some tawny ports and Amorones, blue floral notes. Sometimes bubble gum shows up, but not today. Huge finish.

I love this whiskey.

I just finished my last test for this semester, so I will be finishing my MM and opening a new bottle of BT.

So far I've pulled (apart from the beers) a couple ERSB's, an Old Forrester BB '05 and a Talisker 10... think I'll have a chat with my old 20 year Pappy... for some reason I can only catch the subtlety of that bourbon when I'm half in the bag. Prost!

Right now, I'm switching back and forth between the following:

1) Glenmorangie 18-year, American Oak

2) Bladnoch 15-year Single Cask

3) Brugal Anejo Rum

4) Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon

I drink whatever I'm in the mood for, and that's not even my full list. Yes, I really am very eclectic.

Last night I had a Lot B and then 2 pours of ORVW 10/107... I'm thinking I like the ORVW 10/107 a touch better than the Lot B and it is definitely a bargain.

I decided on a flight of Turkeys.

I had RR101, WTKS, WT12 and American Spirit.

Had dinner at our local brewpub, and enjoyed a bourbon stout and then a pale ale with dinner. Got home and washed it down with Wiser's Very Old 18 YO. It's Canadian but in a blind test I wouldn't guess it was 80pf. Very good stuff - recommended.

At the moment some Lot B, most likely to be followed with some EW Master Distillers or Weller Antique

Last night was a comparison of some (Old) Kentucky Tavern 8yos from the 60s and 70s -- interesting noses, but only so-so taste and mouthfeel. I think these were my first Glenmore expressions.

CC 15 rye 86-01, VWFRR series H, ORVW 10 107 series A Frankfurt and WT 12 export. The wheater was consumed with coffee and a hazelnut cake and the highlight of the drinking this evening.

I'm having my first taste of VOB 100 BIB...I like it...It has a little more heat than I expected. I thought I'd try a little Weller Antique side by side to compare. The Weller is a little sweeter, but both are great bourbons, and for $14 (VOB) and $19 (Antique) they're both really good values.
