I've been looking for Weller 12 for a few weeks now. I've only found one bottle out of about 6 stores and they wanted $39.99.

Anyone have any leads for where to find some in the Nashville area?

I am looking for Weller 12 in Chicago. Any clues?

Best,

Have you tried Binny's? It's certainly flush out in the burbs, not sure about city stores.

It's still available on www.caskers.com. 24.99 plus 9.99 shipping. Shipping 12.99 on 2. Let me know if you haven't signed up there, I can refer you and we both get a credit.

OWA has been out of stock for a few months here.... never had any issues finding it before. They even jacked the price up by $5 about 6 months before it went out of stock, now I guess I see why.

Weller 12 has always been an 'in stock in November, lasts however long it lasts' type of thing here, at least in the last few years.

Since we got into town I've noticed a total lack of Weller anything around here. Looks like November is the time to stock up. PM me if you know of any off-the-beaten-path places to keep an eye on. Good thing I brought a sizable stash to hold me over for a while.

Brian, enjoy the Southwest. Remember, it's a dry heat.

And what better to counter the dry than a quality bourbon on the rocks? Actually, the evenings have been rather cool here lately so no ice required, yet.

Thanks folks, I really appreciate all the tips. I think I may have been taking the Binny's online search too literally. I do not get down to the South Loop much, I was at the Lincoln Park and Lakeview Binny's in the last month and did not see it.

Unfortunately, I saw a good price on Weller Special Reserve and grabbed it instead. Cracked it this weekend and was not blown away. Because I don't have a ton of money, I'm gonna have to get through this and some other bottles first. I think Maker's Mark is better than Weller SR--I messed up.

Thanks

I'm a huge fan of OWA and W12, but I just don't care for WSR at all.

I actually enjoy WSR pretty well, better than MM. It is a nice light drink neat and when I can buy it for less than $20 a handle while OWA is around $25 a fifth and W12 unavailable anywhere around here, I keep it in stock.

I am sorry to hear that you didn't like it. I think we have all experienced this at one time or another with a purchase. You might try mixing a small amount of MM and WSR together (maybe 50/50) to see if that helps.

I drank the Weller SR neat and it had this kind of numbing medicinal quality to it. The mouth feel is much better than Maker's, but when I took a sip of Maker's for comparison, I noticed a much better spiciness and that signature bourbon flavor. Maybe my bottle of Weller is bad, but there is this numbing kind of non-taste, again herbel/medicinal quality. I really wanted to like it. Maybe more sips will help. Many here enjoy the Weller 12, I think ageing may make it a cut above. I think I would most certainly dislike the OWA107, I do not like bourbon with a burn. As I develop what I like, I really want to stay away from burning bourbons. The biggest burn I want is from Bulleit, which I really love.

Thanks again to all--trying to figure it out!

Saw this today

Anyone need some Weller 12?

They had a few bottles remaining last week but were totally sold out when I went in there today.

It doesn't tend to linger very long.

It doesn't help with a lot of retailers telling everyone that it is essentially Pappy.

Whadda they supposed to do? The pappy maniacs have to be fed

Guy,

WSR is certainly not my favorite of the Weller line, but you may find that it improves a bit after some air has a chance to get into your newly-opened bottle. It's a phenomenon many of us have noticed -- a little time and air can really open up wheated bourbon. Why? No idea. If you think of it, let us know if your bottle changes.

Haven't seen a bottle of Weller 12 in about six weeks now, but there is so much else out there to try that I haven't really missed it either.

I haven't knocked myself out looking for it lately. I just happened to be in a store that sometimes has it. I noticed an empty space on the shelf.

I haven't found any in about a month, just from looking in the stores I frequent. But I'm pretty sure I have enough for 4 family sized bottles of SB blend.

Thank you for that advice. However, I will not be drinking the WSR this weekend. I have to attend a wedding in Louisville KY., better pours ahead. Next week when I hit the WSR at home, I will be sure to let folks know how the week-opened bottle tastes.

Best,

Yeah, I have some in the bunker so I don't go looking for it. I do check when I am in a store. I was at my main retailer last night and he had some. The price was pretty good compared to other retailers. I would be happy to connect any Indy area SBers via PM. However, I really haven't seen a wide spread shortage.
