Happy to share. Camperdown Cellars on Parramatta road.

They had a fair few things, but the standouts for me were their High West products, CEHT and ER17 and Stagg Jnr.

Thanks. I will have to go there, it is not far from where my parents live.

I looked at an Australia online retailer and they are trying to sell Pappy 23 year old for $4,999, that seems a bit high but I am sure someone will pay it.

What a joke. They are smoking crack with that price. PVW may be scarce, but it is still obtainable at normal retail price in this country if you are patient and keep an eye out.

A business that does stuff like this makes me not want to deal with them at all. (it is Nicks btw)

On another note, I am thoroughly enjoying the High West Rendezvous Rye I picked up recently. Very nice indeed.

I have not bought from Nicks due to the fact many of the items are indeed over priced, and the PVW at that price is just far too opportunistic for my liking. That said, If they have something worth buying I still would, I won't be boycotting them just out of principle. Right now they have the Bulleit 10 year at $70. Not bad considering I paid $40 or $50 USD plus tax last year from a relatively cheap store in the US.

Agree if the have something reasonably priced I will shop there, I need to find a fried in the restaurant business so I can get a Pappy. I am enjoying the Bulleit 10 year old especially as regular Bulleit here is 40%. In Sydney I have found Bulleit 10 year old for $60 at IGA liquor.

Nicks has been good to us Aussies for many, many years... bringing us stuff from the US that no one else carries. Sure we pay for it, but I've never found their prices to be so over the top that they didn't come with in a few $$ variance of what it would cost me to ship it in myself.

The Pappy price is different. So is the Stagg Jnr ($299). This reeks of cashing in on the hype around the two products. I definitely hope it's not a sign of things to come from them!

I was going to say pretty much the same thing.

Most of the prices I would call reasonable. Not ideal, but better than nothing. The pappy, I can sort of understand, given the hype. But the stagg jnr is what I dont get. I have one store tell me they are the only place in sydney that stocks it and it would be a cool 300. I tell them I can get it for 245 two suburbs across and they pretty much called me a liar and laughed at me. I dont get where they think the hype is.

it's got to be piggy-backing the hype around the normal Antique Collection Stagg. Geez, it's a $50 bottle in the US. No way that inflates to over $200 here. Either Southtrade is taking the piss with it's wholesale prices, or the retailers are at their end.

You can find Stagg Jr. as low as $45 around here and as high as $90 at small stores that think they can get more since Stagg is in the name. Wholesale is certainly less than $38 in the US.

even things like the Dickel single barrel seem quite high though. Isnt it only $50 or $60 in the US?

here in the US, the Dickel single barrels go for about $45 for the 9 year and $65 for the 14 year. I never saw the 14 year, it disappeared quickly, but I loaded up on the 9 year.

Hello all new to SB. but a very keen fan and collector, I have found that Nicks is quite expensive compared to other online shops i have found in here in Au and the UK. I am going to order some from the UK as i found the Stagg Jr for 62 UK pounds even if you double the exchange rate and pay the import tax its cheaper than paying Nicks Prices.

Aaahh TWE and their "collectible glass" shipping, saved me many $$$ on duty in the past!

Welcome to the forum mate, another bloody queenslander, shouldnt you be drinking rum?!!!

Would love to try both. I have had a bottle of the 12. I found it nice enough flavour wise, but just that tad bit harsh to drink neat/on the rocks. Would love to try the single barrel as I kind of find the same with the JD and the JD single barrel. Will not be paying $250 though...

More than a few beam and cokes after work, now settled on the couch drinking some Elijah Craig. Not a bad Friday and thankfully the weekend is now here.

Remember that the GD 12 is not 12 yr old.

Picked up a bottle of Wathens and Rock Hill Farms today. Completely out the blue. Just went to get a cheeseburger from some shops near the gf places and while we waited, thought lets check out the bottle shop. Small and independent type. Walked in and BANG. Both bottles just stand out. Start talking to the owner and he saw I was hesitating to pull the trigger on both, so took 30 off the price. I love days like these.

So now I am sitting down and sipping on some RHF. I think this one will take a few tries to see if I like it or I love it. But its not bad at all.

Oh and I have passed on the info to BJW :)

I have never order from TWE before, do you always get away with not paying duty? I noticed they have Rock Hill Farms and a few others I have been searching for :)

I placed my first and only order with TWE mid last year. Four bottles all up and I got hit with import duty, alcohol duty, GST etc. From memory it was an additional $130. That was when the exchange rate was still good; in my opinion it would not be worth the effort now unless it's for something you really want that cannot be purchased here.
