Couldn't they sell the entire annual Pappy production at the BT gift shop?

But then they wouldn't be able to extort retailers into buying a bunch of BT and vodka in order to buy PVW!

I wish they would. Offer it to on premise only and have a "pappy fest" once per year.

Would save us about 1500 phone calls and make those "hey buddy can you get me some pappy" conversations less awkward.

yeah, just release it twice a year in Bardstown during the April and September KBF events.

I have a better idea, send all the Pappy out to Hawaii and put it on sale during the Pro Bowl. Then everyone will have a fair shot at it. ;)

[...and I'm not just saying that because I live in Hawaii...]

New round of rebates Gary. Only one per household this time around. Last round was either one for a handle, or two liters or 750's.

How much is a handle in GA, T? I just bought one here in Illinois for $29.99, making it $9.99 after the rebate. I usually don't buy handles, but I didn't hesitate on this one.

Kinda weird. A 750 here is $19.99. With the $10.00 rebate, that makes it $9.99. A handle here is $29.99, making it $9.99 after the $20.00 rebate. No brainer to me.

FWIW, I like the Larceny. It appears that my BIL, FIL, and my son might be buying handles in the near future too.

Joe I was wondering if you would mind sharing where you were able to find a Larceny handle for $30. I understand if you dont want to share if it's your honey hole or if you want to PM it to me, but I swear I've been to 70+ liquor stores in the Chicagoland area and haven't found one under $40. Appreciate it if you can help

PVW 15 @ 400 and PVW 20 @ 600. Just absurd. He said he was the last one with it so he was going to make what he wanted on it. Refrenced it going to 2k on the internet. I walked.

And therein lies much of the price problem. Most retailers are aware of the secondary market and pricing. They feel like they are "losing" money if the sell at or near MSRP. And don't even mention the illegality of the secondary. Irrelevant to their price considerations.

It sounds like a lot of retailers and others don't understand that simply seeing an offer price on the internet does not mean the product is actually trading at that price.

Said this before, but the retailers around here who got little or no Pappy/BTAC were handed the CEHT line as consolation prizes and many of them jacked up the price to match.

I've noticed the CETH prices go up $20 in the last month. It's a sign of the times.

It certainly is. And it's also pure coincidence that my palate has migrated to Four Roses' products as the BT brands get pricier and/or harder to find.

Yup. Many of our local stores actually tried to tell me that Taylor was part of the antique collection.

Still holding steady at the original, if already high to begin with, MSRP here in Atlanta at a couple of stores I keep an eye on. So far none of those stores have tried to convince me this was Pappy or BTAC! Yet...

Same here (and agree with the "already high to begin with"). The only CEHT I regret leaving behind was Tornado, not that the others aren't nice - but the ratio of price/value just wasn't there for me.

If I ran a liquor store, my policy for anything Van Winkle or BTAC would be: Move the decimal the right 1 place for display purposes. If you agree to open it and have a snort prior to leaving, you instead pay MSRP.

Would likely have to be an unwritten policy if you were in Georgia. Don't think you can legally open a bottle and drink it in the store even after you have bought it. I know owners aren't supposed to do so unless they follow a bunch of rules to create a separate tasting room.

It is however a rule I may have inadvertently managed to break on occasion...

Ive been saying that for some time. keep it in the hands of enthusiasts, not flippers.

I'm starting feel like the new price for 10 year old bourbon is $50+, and that bothers me.

it wont be long before that is standard.
