mbroo5880i
it wont be long before that is standard.Yeah, I know a local store has a 10 year old selection at $54.99 a bottle.Your reply got me to thinking what age stated bourbons 10 years old or older are available for less than $50. EC12, ECBP, RR10, RRSB10I am sure there are others but the list is dwindling.

bourbonfoot
Interestingly today saw another VA ABC private selection. This time is was Bernheim. Passed on it today but figure I'll probably pick it up next time through if it's around.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
tlandwe2
Would likely have to be an unwritten policy if you were in Georgia. Don't think you can legally open a bottle and drink it in the store even after you have bought it. I know owners aren't supposed to do so unless they follow a bunch of rules to create a separate tasting room.It is however a rule I may have inadvertently managed to break on occasion...The thing is you wouldn't necessarily have to drink any or even open the bottle. Just make the person take off the foil strip in the store. It would kill a ton of the secondary value for flippers because most people would think its been opened or replaced with other juice

I bought a bottle when it first came out but won't be buying another one. I'm obviously not the only one passing on it...
TunnelTiger
Old Charter 10 year @ $12.99, but I'm ashamed that I didn't leave any on the shelf. :frown:
393foureyedfox
went and loaded the wife up on her two favorite wines today at Sams. Man their bourbon selection sucks: JD, WR, JBW....thats about it. Good prices, but put a little variety in there.....I mean, there had to be well over 150 different wines, in varying sizes too.stopped by another store I hadnt been in in over a year. Noticed Bookers was nearly $55. I dont know if thats their regular price, or if its taken a jump, but none will come home at that price. Did see EWBIB at $13.....Ive still not seen it in KY, this was in IN

P&MLiquorsEric
4i, it's a freakin' SAM's, for Pete's Sake!!! You want selection? Go to a Liquor Store. Yeah, you might have to fork over an extra $1.50 per bottle, but... Amen. Quality is an afterthought at those places. Profit, sales, economies of scale and wide availability are the only considerations in those places.

But to have three things, and one of them is WR? I can see JB and JD....
393foureyedfox
Presumably the BIB left with you?no, Ive got plenty of HH6BIB. from best to less-good, Id rank them HH6BIB, EWBIB, and HHBIB gold. Not a ton of difference in any of them, so with HH6 at just over $10, I have no interest in EWBIB

393foureyedfox
OK, but don't be disappointed when you don't find your vintage Mopar parts at your corner Walgreen's... I pretty much gave up on finding my vintage mopar parts anywhere. I once went to the Mopar Nationals in Columbus, OH (with a name like that, you'd think you could find anything), which I go to most every year, with $500 in my pocket and all I wanted was to find a good usable drivers fender for a 1970 Charger (a one-year-only part). Not a single fender in the second largest Mopar show in the country. It got to be a frustrating hobby, so I mostly jumped ship to cheap and attainable four eyed fox mustangs. Ironic.....wasnt the success of their small chain of franchises during prohibition dues to their sales of 'medicinal' whiskey?

TunnelTiger
It's just recent. Every time they get a new shipment in, no matter the brand, the price goes up.Can't wait to see what RITTBIB and Weller 12 will be when they finally get re-stocked. GaryT
$55 is the current price for Bookers at my two main haunts.I see Bookers range from $46to $60 typically, depending upon the store. Unfortunately the store that has it at $46 hasn't had any approaching 8 yrs in a while, so my last bottle was pricier (but, that's the choice I made, eh!)
