do walgreens' in GA sell alcohol? the stores in KY used to but probably stopped about 10 years ago or so. Ironic.....wasnt the success of their small chain of franchises during prohibition dues to their sales of 'medicinal' whiskey?

Uh, the Walgreens stores in Elizabethtown sell alcohol, as does the Rite-Aid and the soon to be open CVS. Only Rite-Aid seems to take it even slightly seriously.

Today I passed up on Wild Turkey 101 14 Year Old.

Yep that's right, I passed on some WT 101 14yo,...(worth repesting).

I know what your'e thinking, Oscar's finally lost it.

We were at Smokehouse 52 Barbeque in Chelsea and on their bourbon list was a "Wild Turkey 101 14 Year Old."

I waked over to the bar to get a close look and I saw no such thing (cuz they ain't one) but I did see the standard 101 sitting on the back bar.

Maybe they have a 14yo and it's kept out of sight.

Saw Old Forester Single Barrel at BevMo for $37. Never seen it before. Considering that's what I paid for OFBB I had to pass.

Anyone tried it?

huh.....wonder why the Louisville ones stopped? CVS and Rite-aid have fair selections here, the Rite-aid slightly better.....they even had VOB 6 year and ETL up until a few weeks ago, when I told other members here where to find it.

Out shopping a bit and saw OWA and WSR in decent supply but no W12 to be found.

Several barrel picks still available including an OBSO at cask strength, a Jefferson's, an ER10 at 10y, 8m of age, not one but two EC12's and a Buffalo Trace barrel all at standard proofs.

Also saw Bulleit 10 down to $41.99 which seemed pretty low and the Redemption BP 6yo MGPI rye. Also saw the HW now has a barrel aged Boulevardier cocktail in a bottle to go with their Manhattan.

An interesting day although not a lot of must buy bourbon with one exception.

Day was almost ruined by this bottle in the Bourbon section but thankfully not a bourbon!

It was "salted caramel" (flavored?) corn whiskey in a tacky glass "jug". Yeech!

I hope that "moonshine" doesn't say $79!?!

Nope, $29.99 which is bad enough. $9.99 would probably be generous!

VW Lot B for $600?!?!! Asked if that was priced correctly and was told that the owner was looking to cash in on Supply and demand. So I handed him the Redbreast 12 that I had picked up ($50 which is a great price around here) and asked him to pass along that they had now lost a customer who has spent way more than $600 since I moved here. I have a hard time shopping someplace where that is the philosophy. I know, I know, I shouldn't care b/c that is what it's like for VW, PVW, and BTAC everywhere but dammit isn't there any integrity in bourbon anymore?

Passed up a James E. Pepper 15 year bourbon for $56.99. I assume it's from the 1st release. I've heard pretty mixed reviews, and was not overly impressed with the NAS release.

Some walgreens in Louisville have booze, you probably don't notice because the section is so small. Cvs and rite aid have an entire aisle.

It's popping up everywhere from Whole Foods to Liquor Barn in Louisville. I've had it, not bad....but could justify the $ difference so haven't bought a second.

That's still beyond insane... I saw secondary prices for Lot B around 200 this winter. So 600 really isn't what it's like for that VW...

I see Bookers range from $46to $60 typically, depending upon the store. Unfortunately the store that has it at $46 hasn't had any approaching 8 yrs in a while, so my last bottle was pricier (but, that's the choice I made, eh!)

I see the same range here. But the places that try to get 55 for it regularly put it on sale for 10 off. So it's really not difficult to get for 45ish, which I think is about right for it.

I passed on a number of things: regular Saz rye $50, Charter 101 $25, Old Forester single barrel $37. The Old Forester is interesting but, NAS, only 90 proof, and priced more than a handle of Signature, and just less than Birthday Bourbon.

My wife and I did our weekly grocery shopping yesterday. Like usual, I had to check out the liquor department. I bought a couple of bottles of BT, but I passed on Booker's, KCSB, Dickel Barrel Select, AE Rye, WP 10 yr and Booker's 25th, amongst other things.

Haven't been hunting, but dropped off my wife for a haircut before she goes in for delivery soon, swing by a liquor store that I've been meaning to check out. PVW 20 for $700 and PVW 23 for $1000. No thanks.

It is brown Foreman jumping on the "private barrel" trend. The only single barrel in the normal line up is JD.

They also have the Double Oaked single barrel. It's identity as a single barrel is questionable at best.

Local shop here did one of the Old Forester SBs. Said they'll never do another. They said there was no value in it and it wound up costing them more than buying the regular product and then in turn having to pass cost on to the customer. Also said the whiskey rolled out for them was only 4 or 5 years old. They're a good shop, so I bought a bottle, but hearing their story regarding BF. I can understand why they felt short changed.
