Went to a new (to me) store that some friends had told me about. Not a big selection, but they did have Elmer at msrp so I picked one up. Also grabbed two more EC12's.

I think you will like that "Big man small batch" very much..

Working through a bottle of "Oven buster" and it is OK. There are others in the Bookers line up that I like better...

Picked up a Sweet Wheat. Hoping it's good.

I had one, I thought it was good enough to buy another one.  I enjoyed the 1792 Port Barrel Finish a little better but the Sweet Wheat is good.

Great, thanks. I also saw the Port Finish. May well pick that up next time!

Picked up a TPS "Bourbon Guys" John J Bowman the other day. I am a fan of the Bowman 100 proof bottles that I've had and this one is no different. Right in my wheelhouse - vanilla nose, heavy caramel flavor, just enough heat to keep it from being bland. Can't wit to get a little deeper into this bottle.

I have a few holes in my repertoire so 2016 is the year to tend to some of that. On that note I picked up a OGD114, had a taste at a GBS event and its been on my to do list ever since (Thanks Jimmy!!) also a 4RSB.

Today I picked up a bottle of OGD BIB in the new fancy-schmancy packaging. I swear it's changed, in that it's been tamed, but that may just be my impression. It seems not as spicy as before, with a sweet mouthcoat despite a seemingly thinner consistency. I know it hasn't changed, though. My last bottle was a couple of years ago and whiskey, being a natural product, does have variation.

Last night I got a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel. Lovely stuff, kind of dry and moreish with a complexity that makes it seem the perfect pour for when you have a lot on your mind you need to contemplate thoughtfully. No indication of which mashbill/yeast it is; it's marked Warehouse NN, Barrel 77-5T.

NEXT WEEK I hope to report a successful nabbing of the regional J. Henry & Sons 5-year-old bourbon from Wisconsin. I'm told that Binny's expects to have it by Wednesday. Their standard expression is 92 proof but there's also a barrel proof offering that I intend to grab if it's there.

If that's the standard Single Barrel listed at 100 proof, it's the OBSV recipe.

I wouldn't be so sure that it hasn't changed (though I don't know).  It is NAS (other than the BIB requirement), so they could be using younger barrels or have otherwise made some changes that we are not aware of.  In any event, on the theory that current releases have generally not been better than prior releases, I have picked up a couple of handles of the old label OGD BIB.

Yesterday, I went to pick up some OB Gifted Horse (I had gotten a text from the store owner that he had it available).

As I was checking out, he said "I have something else for you, do you want it"?

I didn't know what it was, but said "OK, I trust you".

He went into his office and returned with a PVW 15.

BOOM

Eagle Rare is on sale this month so I picked up two 750s at $22 each plus tax. Also bought an airplane bottle of WT101. I've never had it and need to understand if the buzz is legit.

My wife and I visited a retail store that we go to occasionally.  She wanted to pick up some wine for guests so we split the haul - 3 bottles of bourbon and 3 bottles of wine - so that we would get a 15% case discount.  I ended up with a bottle of Blantons for $44, KCSB for $31 and Baker's for $30.  She got some wine...

Was out of town and picked up a bottle of SAOS7yr ($36),  ER10yr ($32 x2),  and Makers CS, and a bottle of Bookers (C06-K-08), and EC12 ($27)

these were all better prices than what I am used to which is why i bought them...

They had a shelf full of the EC12 (1.75) with the old label and the 12 on the front for $54 - passed as I have a few in the bunker
