HOLY CRAP!  For the first time here in Middle Georgia, I found a bottle of ECBP (batch 10) on the shelf - and at $53.95 for the bottle - they only got one in their shipment. I just happened to walk in about 10 minutes after they put it on the shelf.  I live for moments like that! :D

You're now officially a "Sumgai", as in "Well, we just put it on the shelf yesterday, and Sumgai just walked in ten minutes later and bought it!  Better luck next time they release it..."

The CVS stores across the Missouri River are selling Wild Turkey 101 for $19.99 plus tax. I succumbed to the temptation and bought one to fill an empty space in the cabinet. Yes indeed, it's still good whiskey and a great value.

Got a bottle of The Gifted Horse today and opened it up. Very nice whiskey. Pleased with Diageo on this one. At $49.95 it's also not priced too far out of line

Ha!  I've been told that before - but this is the first time I was on the other side of it!

Has anyone ever walked into a store just to look and walked out with a box full? The picture below describes how I feel after doing this.

A couple of bottles of Barrell Bourbon Batch 006.  I've passed up previous batches on multiple occasions, but Batches 005 and 006 have a bit more age on them and have received positive reviews, so I figured I'd give it a go.  First impressions are positive, and I think some airtime will do it some good.

I took the bait and picked up a family size "Red 12" EC12. Have to have some for the inevitable comparison to the new ECNAS after all!

At least you're able to justify your purchase Bruce (its amusing how we all seem to do that from time to time ;)). There was absolutely no rational reason for me to buy the last lonely 750ml EC12 on the shelf today.....but I did anyway.

Managed to track down an ECBP #10.

I also want to do the inevitable EC12/ECNAS comparison. The NAS is pretty much everywhere by me now.

Well, today is one of the few times I walked in just to look and DIDN'T come out with a box full.  But, as Scarlett said, "Tomorrow is another day."

Blanton's Gold, EC 12 x2 and a Crown Royal northern harvest.

Gold will be saved for a special day.  EC to the bunker with the others. looks like CR is up.

I'd be interested to hear what you think about the CR Northern Harvest. I almost picked this up today.

I think it is very good but I don't get a whole lot of flavor in mine. There is flavor there,  but it is very subtle, and not too varied. It is not the whiskey for you if you like bold or complex.

I walked into the liquor section looking for some bourbon and walked out with a bottle of Bernheim Wheat Whiskey. I did it to save money since it was marked down $7 to $23. Mrs PG didn't see the humor in my thrift, she doesn't drink whiskey.

I really enjoy the CRNHR - I bought one bottle just out of curiosity (blame Jim Murray's Whisky Bible) and found it to be a pleasant surprise.  Now, I must admit that I am not a fan of strong rye content, but this just hit the spot for me.  A nice, fruity nose, and the rye almost "sparkles" on the tongue.  The finish leaves a nice vanilla/sugar cookie taste in your mouth. I would best describe the tasting experience as "refreshing".

The problem for me was that it was TOO easy of a sipper, and before I knew it I had consumed several pours of it and was feeling quite "relaxed".  I don't like to do that often, and this one sneaked up on me.  I highly recommend it - especially at the price I got it for ($31.00). I went out and purchased two more bottles to bunker after I had finished the first.

Drove down to the Lake of the Ozarks today with the wife and I popped in a grocery store liquor dept to kill some time while she was shopping at an outlet store. Nothing too interesting until I noticed they still had a couple bottles of Evan Williams SB 2003 stuck behind the newer releases. Hmmmm... Barrel No. 627... Barreled on 2-11-03... Bottled on 7-30-13... Nice! And $31 later I'm headed to the car with my new friend!

Nice.  I had bought a few bottles of barrel 998 barreled on 2-27-03 and bottled in October 2013, so about 10 years and 8 months old.  Seriously, it drinks like a much more expensive bottle, and is simply outstanding.  Hopefully yours is similar--those well aged 2003 bottlings can be really good.
