I thought all ER10 were single barrel.

They are still technically a single barrel. When they changed to new bottling line they dropped the single barrel designation due to the fact there may still be some bourbon in the lines when they switch barrels.  That is my understanding anyway.

I can, although it feels like it's sold out frequently, but I'd call it a lucky day if I came across the single barrels versions that are discontinued.

As others have already said, it's still essentially single barrel in all but name. The only reason to be excited about the older bottles is if you think they are better for some reason.

oh, so they are only removing that single barrel from the label as a "technicality"  I thought it was that they quietly went to transitioned to small batching it.

There's no way for anyone to really know now though that's it's "technically" single barrel then is there?

They switched to a different bottling line that is not set up for convenient clearing of the lines after a single barrel dump. A tiny amount of the previous barrel is still in the line when they move to the next one. This means that one bottle out of the barrel will have some ratio of the contents of two barrels.

i mean that makes sense to me, and I give the benefit of the doubt at first, but the further out from the change, the less I believe it's still that way.  in moving the age statement to the back, i feel like ER10 is going the ol' "we need to keep up with demand" path.  I mean it wouldn't suprise me if it's ER small batch NAS soon.

I can certainly understand any skepticism that comes up with regard to bourbon these days (I may have been guilty of it myself on a time or two...) and the whole change in bottling line story does seem a bit forced. But I am inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I can certainly see a day when the age statement goes away but if that happens this is likely to be one of the first places to report it. As for its quasi single barrel status it is essentially the only single barrel in the mash bill #1 range and anything they don't like for use as ER can likely go directly into blending for BT so I suspect it will remain a quasi single barrel for the time being. Store picks are presumably another way to insure a single barrel bottling, presuming they are available in your area (we have gotten a few here in the recent past but that could always change).

Found some Rock Hill Farms here in Wyoming.  I hadn't been able to obtain that particular one yet, so nice treat.  Cheers!

That's the ideal setting for a glass of bourbon IMO.

Got a late Christmas present of MMCS 15-03. I think it is 111.4.  Haven't tried this yet. Not a huge Maker's fan but I do like the 46.

That bottle right there is what got me started/hooked on bourbon. Every sip left my mouth watering for more and craving the next sip. Truly and amazing bourbon. I guess you could say it has been all down hill since then. Or maybe it was a Heaven Hill??!!;)

Almost forgot, added a bottle of OF 1920 to the collection today. Haven't tried it yet, but have seen enough good reviews to finally pull the trigger.

Four Roses are making some great products, hard to find but it's worth it. Do you know the retail price for this ?

Plus, 2013 is special for me, my son was born that year, hopefully it's a great bourbon year.

Heaven Hill, nice!;)

Cheers!

Will.

Picked up a FR PS OESF.  Working my way towards having one of all the "low rye" recipes.  Looking for OESV and OESO.  Let me know if there are some FR PS in driving distance from DE.

A good haul today. The 375 Beams were marked down to $15 from $50 (guess the were slow movers at 50. Reallll slow). The gorgeous OWA PS single barrel was $25. Never tried an OWA SB, but gotta finish the open one I picked up on my holiday travels first.

I have better luck getting William Larue Weller than an OWA store pick. Seriously. I can even get standard OWA & W12 anytime I want, but OWA store picks are unheard of in this part of the country. Congrats!

wow standard OWA and W12 are like sasquatch around me.  someone may have seen one once, but not sure, can't remember details nobody can proove it...really been wanting to try those as I was able to get a SR weller and was rather unimpressed.

Nice grabs. :) FWIW, you just might want to rethink about opening that OWA later. If it's any where near as good as the last one I got from Binny's, you're really gonna like it. :P Just sayin'.

Cheers and enjoy! Joe

Pulled the trigger on this today $36.  I haven't had it before, but 1792 SiB and FP have really grown on me.

Found a store with three 1792 Full Proof @ MSRP.  I bought two.  On the way out, the manager suggested I look on his "miscellaneous" shelf up front - I'd walked right past it.  Hence, I also bought an Old Ezra 101 7yr (which I've never had) for $22.

First impressions of the OE - hotter than I expected for its proof- more like FC than WT;  finish has some unidentifiable (mushroom? leaf  mold? compost?) vegetal flavor hanging around in there - not unpleasant, just something like you'd get if you are doing yard work and absent mindedly get your glove in your mouth.  When I start smacking to coax it out, it turns sweet.  Go figure.

Going to have to have a THIRD 2 oz. of this in awhile.  Its mystery has captured my attention for the evening.  After all, pitchers and catchers don't report for Spring training for another five weeks or so, and I need SOMEthing to think about.
