Today I noticed a place called Warehouse Liquors on the way to my storage unit and had to stop on the way back.

Aside from the guy in line ahead of me saying he thought he could take me in a fight, I had a good time here.

They had decent but not incredible selection.

Snagged my frist Stagg Jr. for about 57$

Snagged a Rare Breed for 45$

Got a Knob Creek 9 year single barrel 120 proof for 33$ although I believe the shelf tag had said 53$

They also had Laphroaig 10 year cask strength for 60$ but I passed this time. Might go back soon  and see if I can get the Laphroaig 10year CS and see if I can get another  KC9 120 proof for 33$

Picked this up tonight. Love the Bowman distillery, especially their Single Barrel, so will be interested to see how this latest one tastes. Not usually a fan of “finished “ bourbons, but I like Scotch that has been finished in port barrels.

The acronym CCW should make him think twice.  If CCW doesn't, the word acronym might...

How would you compare to regular? What is different ? Store barrel picks have usually, but not always impressed me.

I didn’t do a side by side, but it was every bit as good as regular if not better. For the price alone, it’s worth picking up.

I totally agree, if one is speaking of smoky/peaty scotch, LaFrog CS is hands down THE BEST value, if rated upon a 'taste intensity for your dollar' basis.   ...And, $60 clams is a very fair price for a 750.

I almost always have at least one backing up the 'always open one'.

Thanks km. FWIW, my 750 is also from barrel #390.

Biba! Joe

FWIW Joe 390 is very good not quite as good as 35 but still a great pick. I would go into more detail but I’m not great at identifying distinct flavors. These both were opened this morning so I will revisit in a few weeks

After dinner last night we stopped by TW and found this so we each brought a bottle home. 8f2b68e82bb956f2ebfa959441a7b153.jpg

Went with the intent of picking up a store pick WTKS and did a bit of unplanned damage.

Purchased several bottles while on a trip to St. Louis.  WT101 Rye, Highland Park 12, Michter's American, 4RSB, Bernheim Wheat, and small bottles of Macallan.  The Blanton's was along on the trip for my nightly ration.

Went old school/new school yesterday - bought bottles of Baker's and OF1920 with a small pre-birthday gift card.  Haven't had Baker's since I was drinking with a swimming official buddy at the Macy's bar in Ala Moana Center near Waikiki waiting for the wives to finish up some shopping before working a meet up at UH in Manoa many moons ago.  YES, Macy's had a BAR on the third floor (I thought it was a great idea, no?).

I think it’s a great idea! Does Macy’s in Manhattan still have their bar? I had a couple beers there over 10 years ago while my wife and daughter were spending time shopping in Macy’s.

None purchased today, but went through some storage boxes and pulled a lot of bottles that I over purchased (FOMO) when I first started drinking bourbon.  Current me is much less spazzy and knows I do not need a stash of Regular HMK10 or NAS VOB!     I already stashed a bottle of the McKenna at my Mom's and my In Laws for holiday drinking.  A third will be gifted to my sister by my Mom on her visit this weekend!  Of what is pictured 4 of the VOB bottles will be used shortly in my Summer batch of Barrel Aged Old Fashioneds.  The ECBP is the new C batch I just picked up this weekend.

The Yamazaki is from the tail end of my Scotch affair when I found and foolishly purchased several bottles.  Its very good, but I almost never drink it anymore.

Sigh, and I really had just made fantastic progress in clearing out some space.

I bet lots of people have similar stores. When I'm drinking through my stash of similar bottles (which is just about finally depleted), I like to think of them as gifts from my past self. I'm also a bit more sensible now and rather than stocking up on stuff that's readily available, I've got some money set aside for if there's a credible rumor that something I like is being discontinued.

Know absolutely nothing about it, nor have I ventured onto the rye train, yet. But I do enjoy chatting with a particular LS owner & he hasn't steered me wrong, so far. He told me that the bourbon is highly allotted and he only gave this a try hoping an allotment would be heading his way. He said it was very well worth the $32, so I brought home this stray...

Nice! I keep looking for the 750ml age stated bottles, but no luck yet. I passed on several handles of it a few months ago because I already have a fairly full bottle, but I’m kicking myself now for not buying them.

As do I. Got the same email, but decided to drop $74 on another bottle of Rebel Yell 10yr SB. I just cannot get enough of this stuff.

After taking 3 buffalo trace tours, I drove along the river, past Old Taylor & old crow, then over to Justin's house of bourbon in Lexington.

After checking out the "museum exhibits", I chatted with the guys for a bit and tried their store pick of Wathens barrel proof.

After some friendly conversation, the guys offered me one and I felt the price was reasonable.

Good stuff.

Good times.

Great day not being @ work !

:)

Actually I spoke with the proprietor today in Lexington.

The idea is neat, a different label named after a different real horse for each batch.  And each batch is proofed differently.

At the end of the day though, it's all still mgp in a fancy labeled bottle with a young age statement, if at all.

Fine.

I get it, and I think it's a neat idea.

I also like mgp whiskey.

I just don't need any more mgp, as I'll be drinking smooth ambler for the next 20 years...LoL

Yes you do my friend. I picked up the new 1792 FP Barrel select as well. A man has to have something to sip on vacation.
