Ol' Skule Sccop...

The JBSiB & EWBiB will be virgin territory. The OGD114 has been tried but this is the 1st bottle owned. Others two - staples...

I’m still trying to figure out the Woodford Malt Whiskey— it not unsurprisingly reminds me of the production floor of my brewery client in Connecticut. A very distinctive nose.

I'm not saying fer sure but if it's bronchitis, Southern Comfort is the ticket; otherwise WT101 splashed in honey, lemon & peppermint will ease symptoms. If these don't help, you're a goner!!! Just kidding. I hope you get well soon. Not sure about the Penelope but if you get the chance let us know as it's been around here, but no info...

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Hope it passes sooner than later.

If you lose taste, then KC seems to get it back the best. It seems KC is a cure for most things; except maybe a high mortgage payment. (even that has some merit) 😜

Get Well Soon...

I came across an interesting Woodford Reserve, and it decided to follow me home.  Very curious to see how different this is than the standard version or the couple of store picks I have triedl.

I had a LS pick in 2020 that was friggin excellent. Grabbed a second one and really lamented when they were gone sometime last year...

My neighbor had a standard and we did a sbs. No Contest!!! The LS pick by a mile...

My buddy's LLSs are so successful with his private selections; they've had to institute a raffle system.  Buy bottles all year long, get tickets by $$ spent.  Limited bottlings arrive and have drawings for ticket numbers to randomize "first dibs" to buy.  Seems about as fair as any system I've ever seen or heard about otherwise.  Kudos, to them, for recognizing their best patrons!

My numbers got pulled for dibs to buy their most-recent BT PS.  Would never have thought I'd have to win a raffle to buy Buffalo Trace.  Ooh, baby; its a wild world!

Bought some of their most recent pick of Ezra Brooks Cask Strength too.  Buy 'em if you see 'em.  They've all been excellent!!

And, why aren't we talking about Starlight Distillery more?  These folks are making really fine whiskey!!

I guess because they are small?  The produce their own rather than source, so I'm going to look for it.  Seems they produce small amounts, I don't think it's distributed far.

Starlight is killing it with their finishes too.   Their port was awesome, double oak amazing, and then I will claim getting old as to why I cant remember the third while I am traveling this week.   Has fared very well against some of the heavyweights in blind SBS at my house.   Keep the interesting single barrel picks coming!

Decided to buy a 375ml of WRDO as my first attempt in the double-oaked arena.  My reasoning is if I don't like it , I am only out half the cost.  And in this case, less then half.  750ml of WRDO $59.99 before tax, 375ml of WRDO $25.99.  Seemed counter-intuitive pricing for me, but it works for me in this case.

Good thinkin’!  I like WRDO well enough on its own, but it sings in cocktails for me.  I don’t know if you’re a home cocktail person, but if so and you don’t happen to like it neat, give it a go in a cocktail.

Starlight Farms is perched on the northwest side of the large limestone ledge that provides the perfect water for America's native spirit.  About an hour from MGP and just over the imaginary line from a host of legacy distillers, this distillery is in the right place at the right time.

Didn't know the distro was so spotty; its stacked deep here in CT.  I give it a "buy on sight" recommendation.

Prost!

Buying two more of the Ezra Brooks CS to round out the case.

Only because I have to go  back up there since I won today's lottery to buy one bottle of the 2022 PS Eagle Rare for this year!!

They're bundling it with their special single barrel of pure agave tequila finished in last year's ER barrel for 10 months.  Fun little cross-over creation.  Will be fun to try something I would otherwise normally overlook completely.

All that to say, I'm getting a bottle of 2022 eagle rare, which is about as lucky as this old boy gets!!

Prost!

I was out running some errands and stopped by a local store and found these for $69.99/ each.  Needless to say the answer was yes!

I was up in Youngstown, OH yesterday for the PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.  A friend's son runs and we went up to watch him compete.   And I had a chance to hit two stores and found a few bottles that are very scarce here in PA.

I bought....

New Riff Rye

ODG114

Coopers Craft

2 Weller Special Reserves (1.75 & a 750)

Blackened

The second store (A & C Beverage) had a sign on the door  - "allocated bourbons   -  Friday morning  8AM"

Today’s haul. And yes, I already cracked both. Man, it’s easy to forget how good - and how good of a value - KC 9 SmB is. Consistently terrific stuff.

I was surprised to see these just sitting on the shelf for $50 so I snagged them.  I really enjoy my A121 so I'm looking forward to trying this.

What did you pay for the Weller?

So apparently wheat whiskey is a thing? Always thought wheat whiskey was a wheated bourbon but I was just wrong. Was told to try Bernheim and then go from there. Also saw a MM I've never seen before so I said why not.
