I posted in the barrel purchase sub-forum a while back that we should aim for an OGD BiB picked by Harry and Squire. If we could get a 6 or 7 year old barrel I bet it would be pretty great.

Honestly I wouldn’t care what it tasted like lol. I’d have a big smile with every sip.

Ah man…Crazy work week so far.  This is usually a time to clean the office and get things organized for the New Years business.  Instead, we’re running at 120% wide open.
a pour of my favorite PHC.  Blend of Mashbills has been a fave of mine since my first sip back when.  Full of juicy dark fruits, solid oak backbone, and huuuuge finish.  The interplay of the dark fruits and oak goes all the way through from first sniff to 2 minutes after the last swallow.  Top 5 whiskey for me.

I snagged this on sale, at the package store in Norfolk.  I think paid $35.00 for it.

It's got a pleasant spicy flavor that I didn't expect.  I like it.

I have seen this one recently and have been curious about it.

Beautiful. I have one bottle left and it's on lockdown.

Yep, me too.  I remember @Lost Pollito setting this up through Binny's.

I just love when some of you guys can post pours from bottles I never even knew existed!

If we only knew what some of whiskies some of these guys have had.  I seem to recall some "legendary" PVW and Willett barrel picks made by individual members like @doubleblank Randy Blank's Van Blankle and Doug Phillip's @dougdog Green Ink Rye.

Before my time in the forum but they have been discussed and written about in a variety of forums, even outside of SB.com.

I am sure some of the long-time members in this forum like @smokinjoe, @fishnbowljoe, @wadewood, @sku and others could tell some great stories.  Of course, the Boss @jbutler probably has the best stories.

I am not drinking anything spectacular like those whiskies mentioned above but if it is in my glass, it is straight bourbon, it comes from one of the major distillers, has reasonable age on it, its reasonably priced, and it is 100 proof....then it is spectacular in my book.

I am drinking OF100...let's just call it unassuming yet simply spectacular.  We can also call the bottle empty.  What next?  Hmmmm....Let's see....

A few of us went to Binny’s to help number the bottles, and then get them organized for shipping, pickup, or “other delivery”. Poor @Lost Pollito. He must have answered over a hundred phone calls that day asking about Pappy and BTAC. 🙄

Then you probably numbered my bottles.  I picked mine up at Binny's South Loop.  I have only met Joe once.  I believe it was at Binny's Highland Park.  I don't get up to Chicago as much as I used to so it has been a few years since I have been to Binny's.

I didn't think to ask him is they had any Pappy or BTAC.  I did pick up some stellar Whiskey Hotline KC Barrel Picks.

I was one or more of those phone calls.  Some mix-up on credit card expiration date, IIRC.  He got it straightened out, and my single bottle - long gone with GREAT ceremony - arrived on schedule.  On another occasion, he also called to offer me a 2016 GTS at MSRP delivered to my door which, OF COURSE!!, I jumped at.   WONDERFUL person to do business with, and Binnies benefitted greatly from his efforts as my wife's relatives are scattered around Chicago, and I sang (and still sing) their praises whenever.

Today (as Alabama scores on Cincinnati), I am continuing my bunker diving by sipping on a VOB "6" with a price sticker saying "$14.99" from a favorite local purveyor.  I bought all they had that day as I got  $1 per bottle off if I bought a case of six or more.  I think that was in early 2015 after VOB dropped the "aged 6 years" from the neck band on its BIB.  I still have a couple of those left, too.

No reason not to drink well, back home on New Years Eve.   Doc Cheatham prescribes a butterscotch 'n tobacco  WTKS,  mixed with some old time jamming.

OMG Kurt! You aren’t gonna believe this, but I saw Doc Cheatham at a jazz festival here in Rockford back in the late eighties-early nineties. He was in his 80’s and was absolutely amazing. 🎺

Doc had the skill of a lead trumpeter with the touch of a jazzmen.   And he played almost until he was Betty White's age (bless her).

Started with a decent pour of FRSiB, followed by a smaller but still decent pour of FRSiB.  Opened up a bottle of Burning Chair and J.Rieger for a taste.  Decided a decent pour of Burning Chair is warranted as a farewell to 2021.  Pizza cooking in the oven.  Will enjoy the Burning Chair while the gooey cheese on the pizza melts.  After feasting on pizza, we will pour more bourbon.

Stay at home New Years Eve.  It is best to avoid crowds and driving.  Less driving, more drinking.  Stay at home, less crowds.  Family playing games.  Me...drinking bourbon and surfing the internet.  I have been through the internet several times but maybe somebody posted something new today.

Stay safe this evening and have a safe and Happy New Year.

Uh, at my age, THIS is a GIVEN.  Question is: Can I stay awake until 12:01 AM local time???:(  VOB "6" is almost gone.  Now, where'd I put that special Bakers that GEETEN gave me?:o

Keeping it safe at home with WT 101.

I remember New Year's Eve referred to as "amateur's night" as far as the drinking goes.

Stay at home New Years here too. I’m not sure what I’ll be having later. 🤔 Oh who am I kidding?  Weller of one variety or more will be poured. 😁

Had a nice bottle kill pour of EC B519 last night. Stellar batch (as they all are actually). Opened this bottle on Feb 17 (my birthday), and it developed nicely throughout the year.

Happy New Year to all!

Spent New Year''s eve enjoying the heck out of some MM101. Great by itself and fantastic with a few Trader Joe's Amarena Cherries dropped in.

As predicted, I had some Weller last night. I climbed the Weller “stepladder”.  😉 I ended up having fairly small pours of a ps Weller SR, a ps Weller 12, my 2021 Weller Blend, a Weller SB, a ps OWA and 2020 WLW. 🥳 I took it easy and skipped Weller FP, Weller CYPB, and another ps OWA.  Maybe tonight.😋

That looks real nice @fishnbowljoe.  I've been meaning to get your thoughts on the WSiB (orange label).  I love mine from last year, kind of a PVW15 junior.
