Snagged a WTRR 13 today. $110. I love WT, and the guy was stocking them as I entered the store. The two I left on the shelf were gone before I finished checking out.

Always. Not a fan of the shelf clearers.

I didn’t expect to see this one. Maybe ever. Was an easy choice for my first ever hundred dollar bottle.

I have never spent more than $90 on a bottle.  However, I would easily spend more that $100 on that same bottle if it were available today.  It was a Smooth Ambler Single Barrel.  Anyway, I would be in on a WTRR 13 for around $100-110.  Of course, right now, there are certain bottles I would pay up for.  But, then again, I am a Cheap Bastard.

Me too. Getting into bourbon back when dusty glut bottles were plentiful really spoiled me. I passed on some $50 bottles back then that would fetch four digits at auction now. But I drank stuff I liked and still do. I think there are maybe 3-4 things I’d pay a hundred bucks for in current production, but I doubt I’ll ever see ‘em. Still, as today showed, you never know.

Actually now that you mention it, both of them are northsiders.

49-3P is pretty close to the “middle” of the warehouse longitudinally, and only 4 racks away from touching the North wall.

Again, it doesn’t really matter, right?

Not really any bad barrels being sold as store picks.

Met one of my oldest friends and his wife for lunch today.  It has been a tradition for many years to meet for lunch on New Years Eve.  We met at a restaurant known for its microbrews but they also have a lot of inhouse spirits including bourbon, rye, rum, gin, vodka, etc.  My wife and son tried a pour of both a toasted coconut rum and toasted coconut cream rum and loved them.  As an Indiana distillery, these brands are available at a lot of retailers in the area.  On the way home, we stopped at the store to pick up some grocery items and wouldn't you know they happened to have both.  They put them in cart.  Since this store offers a discount on 6 bottles of spirits, I couldn't this opportunity slide so I grabbed a few bottles of whiskey to get the discount.

Grabbed a bottle of KCSiB120 Store Select for $35 and couple of OF100 Ryes for $20 each.  Cheap Bastard score.

Went for a drive into the neighboring state and scored pretty good .

The Larceny is the C922  I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw behind the counter. Bought both they had.

I had the KC SB Rye not to long ago and found it quite good.  It has the KC nutty note on the front and the spice of the rye on the finish.

The 1843 is good and going in the bunker.   The Baker is one I have wanted to try for some time but haven't been able to find.

Love that Larceny.

As my descent into whiskey madness continues, I've started in on some ryes.  I have the Meijer, Kroger, and FWGS (PA State) version of that KC Select 115 Proof bottles.  Looking forward to trying them side by side in PR with a friend.

On a side note, had the New Riff 6 year malted rye today.  Really liked it.

Awesome photo!  Given Carson's performance today you might need to make a big dent in that bottle tonight.

What did they charge for the Larceny, if you don't mind my asking?

I don't mind you asking at all.

It was $ 69 plus the tax.

I was OK with that, and happy I found it.

Thanks!

The reason I ask is that I got off my wallet, and spent $75.00 + tax on the C922 batch, based on what seems like universal praise for that release.

I've generally avoided them, because the Larceny that I've tried has been hit or miss.

I haven't tried it yet, and aim to rectify that soon.  The store had 5-6 bottles of it left a few days ago. If I like it enough,  I'll go grab another one.

Thanks, again!

My wife's name  was chosen in a local Mom and Pop's annual lottery today. She was 36 out of 40. This was the starting selection, but being #36 she didnt have too many choices, but I think she did well.20230102_171253.thumb.jpg.2ca625eab94f4d8c653a45b9cdb8b48b.jpg

This  is what she was able to buy. I'm happy with her choices.

These have been bought over the last year and finally made their way to the Caribbean.  This seemed like the most apt place to post their arrival.

JD SiB lower proof/black label missing in the pic.  Stuck in the bag, not in the mood to coax it out.

Contentment.

They were really holding onto that Larceny. That batch didn’t get all the hype this year’s C batch is getting but it’s a good one too. 👍

Pick up some WOA 107 or as we call it, Red Weller.  Ohio drop day at some of the local stores.  Can't pass that up it's just too good.

A friend picked up a grenade for me at HH for $30.  Don't know much about them.  Contra to my usual inclination to "open & drink", it's seems like a novelty item.  Or am I mistaken & there's something super special inside?

Searched the archives.  Consensus:  Very good, pricey on a "per bottle" basis.

Worth opening and trying it. You should be able to replace it.
