This happened today at a nearby Safeway grocery store.  I know a guy (my son) who knows a guy.  I wasn't happy with how it rung up but how you gonna turn this down even at that price?

And I thought I was getting ripped off getting my 2022 VWFRR 13yr at $179.99 (MSRP is $119.99).  Good thing we don't pay sales tax on whiskey or wine here in Taxachusetts on top of the price of the hooch, eh?

Geez....those two are a tough act to follow! All I did was stop by the State store to get wine for the wife and MIL next week and the truck had just dropped off fresh Buffalo Trace products. So I kindly grabbed one each of regular BT, ER and Blanton's. Nothing special compared to these two have hitters.

Picked up a 4Rsmb to gift and really had to bite my tongue as there was a woman shopping the aisle and when approached by a clerk to " help", recommended Basil Hayden when she wanted something to gift but not the "usual". There is nothing more pedestrian and usual than BH, within arms reach was RR10 and 4R as well as a MMCS, ALL of which were less $$ and ......oh why bother.

My nephew was in town today for business.  He pulled these out and said “ Sorry, I didn’t see any more of the Father & Son 13 WT, I hope these are good”.  
I may need to write him into the will if he keeps this up.

The more we see this type of behavior and allow it to go uncorrected, the more we are contributing to the problem. Dammit man, if you see something, say something!

I think I can get behind this. When I retire I’ll just hang out at big box stores whiskey aisle and give appropriate recommendations. 
 

related, unrelated…I was reading a thread on Reddit where a store employee is venting about having  to explain the allocation process to little old ladies because their sons are sending them looking for unicorns.

Stopped off at the store near the house. Totally missed the release this morning.. was not expecting anything at all to still be available.

Local store had a 30% of sale this weekend.  Thanks to my friend @PaulO for the heads up.  Obviously, I am a cheap bastard so the prices had to be good for me to pull out dusty (my wallet).  I actually passed on everything at one of their stores that stocks higher end bottles. Just wasn't feeling it.  Just kidding.  They were already pretty picked over on the standard daily stuff.  So, I went to my local store.

 

No reason to bore folks with basic purchases.  I did find FRSiB for $30 and Bay Saz for $19.58.  Also, stopped at another local to pick up another bottle of Backbone Wheat Whiskey before they run out.

ECBP C922 is stellar.  As mentioned above, my local had a 30% off sale.  When I asked the manager if he had any in the back, he said they couldn't be included in the sale.  I will go back on Monday to grab another bottle.  I believe I paid $73.99 for the bottle I have.  Well worth it.  I would have grabbed a bottle today but it was at a grocery store so there is no way to separate the sale bottles from those that couldn't be included in the sale.
