Sorry don't know the Lander's twins but the "be in the bunk" reference is funny as hell!!! 😛

Slight error. Judy and Audrey Landers are sisters, not twins.  Back in the day, they were on the cover of Playboy, and were featured in a non-nude pictorial. They appeared on numerous tv shows, and made the rounds of the talk shows. The Hallmark Channel reference is because they appeared on Murder She Wrote which is currently shown on the Hallmark Channel. @mbroo5880i and I have something in common. Our wife’s television viewing habits. Hallmark tv shows and movies. 😉

OK, I didn't know them by name, BUT by sight, oh yea! Wonder if anyone is using Frank's top bunk! hehe...

Don't worry you guys aren't the only ones held hostage by the woman of the house. All I know is that you don't walk the streets after dark in Cabot Cove!!! 😉

Picked up Barrell batch 31, along with a couple Springers which haven’t been seen for a long time.

I’m getting into the barrell brand, very unique offerings, reasonable prices for the regular lineup, and consistently good.

I haven’t had any of the more wacky blends or finishes, like New Years, Vantage or Seagrass. Anyone have experience with these? Are they so different from a regular bourbon profile?  Are they worth space in the bunker? There’s so many iterations, it seems like trying to narrow down is futile without help from SBers!!

I'm with you - I haven't had anything from Barrell that I thought was 'bad' (although certain some batches/products I enjoyed more than others).

I've reviewed several of the others here

Barrell Bourbon New Year 2023

Barrell Vantage

Barrell Seagrass

The New Year is more of a standard bourbon profile - just mingling different barrels of bourbon (including Dickel), but no different/wacky finishes.

The others, if you don't care for strange finishes might not be in your wheelhouse.

Interestingly enough, with Seagrass - I enjoy the standard one better than the 'Gold Label' and 'Gray Label' versions (which are older stuff, but maybe finished longer?  I got more sour citrus notes, grapefruit - which just isn't my jam; but happy enough to like the entry level product!)

If you're not really into finishes - might want to see if you can find a flight at a bar or something.  Or check their website - one thing I appreciate is that while they won't say which distillery, they'll list the states it came from (and if finished in something, they'll detail that).

Thanks Gary, I was leaning toward getting a New Year bottle  as the blend from 8 states is just so wacky, it’s worth a shot. I’ve read up about the Seagrass and lots of information supports the standard issue as being as good or better than the higher priced Grey and Gold. Some of those prices are hard to justify. I’m not a huge “finishing” fan, but not totally opposed, so I’ll see if I find some of this at a bar before investing too much into it

I picked up a WTr 5 yr old rye as, based on what I recently learned, should contain 100% or at least a good majority of the local KY rye that I loved so much in my 2019 bottle that has since been emptied. The 7 yr I tried has the same "special sauce" as my bottle so I'll see how this one stacks up.

There’s some NYS law that a store’s name can’t be on an attached label or something, so I’ve been told, hence “Hand Selected by Staff”. Kinda funny.

Found a bottle of KC12. Hadn't seen that one around here, it was in a small local LS I've never stopped into. They also had the full Weller lineup ranging from $74 for WSR to $999 for the Weller with the white label, which I dont know what that is and didn't care at those prices. The 12, FP and Antique were also hundreds of dollars. I didn't even ask the price of the PVW15 he had. The KC was at retail, so I got it and dont plan on going back.

The white label Weller is Weller CYPB. Create Your Perfect Bourbon. A number of years ago, BT had a poll on their website. You could vote for things you thought would make your perfect bourbon. Age, mashbill, proof, and warehouse storage. The winner was the wheated mashbill, 95 proof, and the age was in the neighborhood of 9 year’s old IIRC. Sorry but I can’t remember the storage specifics. BT decided to produce it. I first saw a bottle when I was at a meeting of the powers that be at BT back in 2019. This was just before they released it. Never thought I would get one. I somehow found two. It’s pretty good. Much better that the Weller Single Barrel imho. My 2021 Weller Blend bears a very close resemblance to it. 😋

I think I knew that at one point but it went in one ear and out the other as I probably figured I’d never see one in the wild at MSRP

If you have $1,000 laying around, you could have a third bottleB)

Thanks, but….😏

On the brighter side, I grabbed a partial 1.75 of MM out of my bunker to decant into a 750 bottle. I saw a bottle I didn’t recognize. Darned if it wasn’t a Weller SR I’d put in the wrong cabinet.

I had a gift card sitting around from Christmas and I didn't want it to go bad so...a couple of store picks and a Pipe Dream Cask Strength.  The 9-yr-old Knob Creek was barrelled on my 59th birthday and the CopperCraft is 9-yr-old MGP.  Ironically, I have also recently scored KC SiB picks barrelled on my 58th birthday and my wife's 50th.

Not bourbon or is it? 😀

I ran across a bottle of Dickel BIB 13 Year Fall 2008 for $29.99.  I just had to get it, right?

Not a fan of standard Dickel. However, I have already opened it.  I just had to, right?

Fruity, sweet, oaky.  Pretty good.  Worth the price of admission.

Curious about that Pipe Dream CS, let us know how it is when you open it!

I've tasted it at a bottle share party about 5 months ago.  My tasting notes say, "Yes."

Nothing extraordinary, but picked up a Blanton's yesterday.  I actually like it.  Weird.  I know I'm not supposed to as "they" say it's a tater bottle, but I'd suggest "they" are the new taters as they back their trucks up for MGP store picks when that same bourbon is literally in four dozen other bottles on the shelf next to it.  We're all taters.

Nothing wrong with liking Blanton's. I enjoy a Gold and certainly the SFTB. The regular is certainly not bad either!

The regular is not something I reach for often, especially at today's prices, but it is a nice pour.  Not worth the effort that people put into acquiring it but nice bourbon none the less.  I actually find it to be one of the few 'meal bourbons' out there.  As much as I enjoy bourbon, I generally find it to be too overpowering to enjoy with a meal.  Blanton's is one of the few exceptions.

100% agree here! I actually explained it awhile back to Nancy as such. Not many that I like neat with the meal, but Blanton's & regular shelf EC seem to be my goto with a steak. An old fashioned is more forgiving with the meal; at least to me...

Good one, will try that! Have never put it next to a decent steak!

That purchase was a no-brainer.

If it's anything like the 15 year, you stole it🤘🏻
