Kev, did you just do this entire board a huge favor by coming up with this great shortcut to Wilderness Trail???
If so, we need to let the Boss know, so he can get it an under-line!

By all means, have at it. I am FAR too lazy to type out "Wilderness Trail" every time I mention them, which is often as I am a big fan.

I wish Smoke Wagon's monikor had taken a similar path (eg, SWa), as I STILL think Stitzel Weller every time I see SW.  Not necessarily as pertinent here as it is on local forums, though.  And, granted, many people there probably have never heard of Stitzel Weller.

Pikesville on the shelf after what seems to be a long hiatus. "Won" the right to purchase the EC18. Passed on ECBP, ECToasted, HMcK, LarcenyBP..mostly due to getting the 18. Had I not I would have likely come home with another ECBP at the least.

LOL! no doubt. I am also a many decades long fan of WT so I could have easily confused myself by referencing both in the same post, really it was an act of self preservation on my part.

The local forums… I joined one and equate it to a neighbor who is very much into astronomy yet insists on engaging the flat earth crowd ( if they think the earth is flat, how they wrapped their heads around the existence of the internet is a nut I’ve yet to crack but, whatever) He has very civilized discussions with them and is convinced he can help them but as of this writing he is batting zero.zero. I occasionally engage a local FB group but it’s primarily for my entertainment and occasional frustration, lots of SMH moments. What’s the old saying about fools and their money? To get back on topic. I didn’t purchase it today but recently a New Riff Aroostook rye came home with me.

Or an excuse for invading a country without any distilleries.

For some reason "wet turd" just pops in my head when I see that.  Unless I'm at work, then it's week-to-date.

I’m going to buy a bottle of Wilderness Trail today for the sole purpose of using WTr in my tasting review!  😂. Hey, I just used WTr there!  😎

About 2 years ago I was talking to the manager of my local LS, who I’m friendly with, and mentioned I’d be interested in RHF when ever they get some in. I all but forgot about that convo we had, and never mentioned it since to him, but got a call out of the blue yesterday saying he had something for me. Picked this up this morning.

Yesterday, I spotted WTr behind the bar in a local restaurant we frequent.  Usually, it has Beam Suntory products and maybe Bulliett rye.  Guess they are expanding their offerings.   I like the WTr idea fwiw.

SWAG seems like a good monikor.  Says the guy who has never seen a Smoke Wagon ever. 🤪

The pour in the glass looks bigger than the amount missing from the bottle.  Its like magic!  Enjoy!

Friend, assuming the pricing was right, that is relationship you need to develop.  Sounds like a solid store manager since he recalled your interest in a specific bottle.

I stopped at my favorite local LS tonight and flirted with the usual suspects. OF 100 was back in stock, JDSBBP was on sale, WTRB and WTKS were on sale, and I could swear a bottle of FRSiB winked at me.

What I decided on instead was something I had never had.

I couldn't read the tiny print on the side without my cheaters, but when I got my purchase home I discovered a KY 78 and found I had bought my first taste of Willet bourbon.  Very sweet corn syrup, a little mint, unsalted butter, and, as many here have expressed, unmistakable red hots.

I like it. Cinnamon lozenge and all. Maybe it will inspire me to make an apple pie. Maybe I'm just happy and easy to please because it's Friday night. Either way, I'll take the win.

So you flirt with whiskey too!

As I have gotten older, I just cut to the chase and tell it that it is coming home with me. 😀

Just grabbed a Calumet 10, WT101 and a OF 1920.  Rainy day shopping. Having Elk medallions  for dinner. Starting with a Blanton's Gold before. A good day!!

Special thanks to mbroo5880i giving a good tip.

A liquor store chain had Legent on some sort of liquidation close out distributor special for $10 a 750ml bottle.  I knew it was a blend of Bourbons finished in wine and sherry casks (not something I've sought out before) but a Beam product, so probably at least ok.

I went to the big store by the mall, sold out.  A nice lady that worked there checked the computer, and sent me to the store closest to my home.  They had a full shelf plus more.  I bought a case.  I tried it at home, went back the next morning.  Most was gone by now, but still about a third of the shelf left.  I asked the clerk for a box, since I was going to get several.  He asked if I'd leave one for him.  I said, of course, it's bad karma to clear a shelf like that, take them all.  So, I left one.

Let me be clear, I have no interest in cheap swill.  This stuff was meant to be top shelf.  To me, the second cask finish on the Legent gives it some of the same flavors of a Manhattan Cocktail, but subtle - tasty pour here.

I picked up a couple of bottles in a trade today. 🤔

We gave our son and his family our old Vizio 58” flatscreen tv. He gave me the BT and Weller SR.  😁
