A few days ago I picked up a lone BHC Weller Centennial (Frankfort), and today I picked up an '08WLW.

They just (last week) started stocking Four Roses (Small Batch and Single Barrell), but I had to pass on it this time.

Jefferson's, $24.99. Got so many bottles open right now - BH, DPride, ETL, LotB, JB8, 1792, Old Setter - that I gotta finish some before I open more. I figure I'll buy J Reserve in the meantime and then I'll be able to compare them head-to-head.

Found a bottle of Hirsch 16 gf for $80. Couldn't pass it up but also have no desire to drink it as of now.

I had a real dilema today, I read on the forum about Eagle rare 17 yr, and was sure I had seen it at a store in town. When I got there I found it was the 10 yr 90 proof. It was $67 Cdn a bit more that $10 over Knob Creek which I also read here was overpriced. however I don't think you can compare Canadian prices to American. I also saw Evan Williams single barrel at $50. So I bought the Buffalo Trace. After racing home and tasting the Buffalo Trace I was wishing I had picked one of the other 2. Alberta now has the most expensive alcohol in Canada, at least Ill be in San Francisco next week and I plan to pick up something good.

This morning I went out and got new rubber for my pick-up.

Afterwards I stopped at a store I have never been in just on a hunch.

It paid off, I got a bottle of W L Weller Centennial and a 200ml of Evan Williams 7 year old.

I was in southern Illinois yesterday and went into an old liquor store. Found a bottle of "David Nicholson 1843". It literally had a coat of dust on on it, but is it really a 'dusty'? Does anyone have some info on this? I did search and the most recent reference is from 2007. What did I buy?

I think it was Stiztel-Weller's bottom shelf brand.

Does it have a bottle year on the bottom?

There is an '07' on the bottom of the bottle, among other things. Below is a picture of my purchase.

Just a guess but I'd say it is a recent bottle by the same folks that bottle Ezra Brooks.

Blitz,

Does the bottle have a UPC? What is it? There are UPC "look-up" sites that may help.

Search some more, you'll find quite a bit of discussion regarding this bottle. I don't know that anyone ever verified, but the assumption was pretty much a blatant lie that it is BIB Bourbon from DSP KY 16 as it states on the bottle. When I was working in St Louis a couple winters ago it was everywhere in abundance! I tasted it and honestly thought it was decent, kind of even tasted like SW so who knows...

I'm not sure this is the exact cut-off of the real SW juice, but I believe the rule of thumb put forth by Julian a few years ago is that:

Tall Bottle = SW = Mmmmmm

Squat Bottle = not SW

I think they've been "using up old labels" that state DSP 16 for many years now...

My corner store has dropped the price of the regular Four Roses to $14.99. So, as I really enjoy this, I had to bring one home.

I live in St Louis and I'm positive this is the case.

Dan, I think I said this before, but I still think you're gonna need a bigger cabinet. Nice purchases. That bunker must be looking real good now. Joe

Dan,

The Baby Saz is available at the ABC. You just need to find a store that carries it or ask them to order it.

Wild Turkey, Eagle Rare SB, & a Russells Reserve. Also had the oppertunity to introduce WT\RR to a fellow patron I met while there.
