Rockefeller
Was able to source 3 PVW15s, a Tornado and 2 OWAs. The PVW15 were marked up about $8 more than normal but the Tornado and OWA were the lowest I've seen (on the east coast at least). All in all, a very reasonable purchase in my opinion.Got a call out of the blue from a store offering me ORVW10/90, ORVW10/107, LotB, and PVW23. I got 99 problems but ... savagehenry
Received an unexpected call WED from a store trying to sell me PVW 15 and VW 12 for very acceptable financial burden ($86 & $60). It was worth the 2.5 hour round trip, especially considering that a shop much closer to me wanted $169 and $119.Also, picked up EC 12 today. redbear
Scored a PHC cognac finished. Had to work for that one. Also picked up a 4yo Willet single barrel bourbon, Spec's selection.Timing is funny sometimes. A couple of days ago I watched Rockefeller's bottle porn videos and learned about MM slam dunk bottles. Picked one up tonight. Makers wasn't on my short list to purchase, but I couldn't pass it up. AaronWF
I decided my parents needed a bottle of bourbon. My dad doesn't drink and my mom drinks a little bit sometimes, and my dad especially has always frowned upon alcohol, mostly because it makes him feel left out, but now that I'm a dad, they have more reason to make room for my preferences (if they want to see their granddaughter), and now that they have a nice bottle of bourbon, I have more reason to visit. Or at least some relief for when I do... (Actually, I'm exaggerating, I have a pretty good relationship with my parents.)I could think of no better house bourbon to gift than Four Roses 1B.I also picked up a Binny's OBSV to take home. Anyone know if Binny's is doing another 4R barrel-picking anytime soon? **cough**Joe**cough** I'm pretty sure the bottles on the shelves have been there for over a year, perhaps two years. Jonny.Applebury
All you people picking up PVW makes me want to cry. I HATE YOU OHIO AND YOUR DAMN CONTROL STATE! If you want to drive to south-central Wisconsin, I'll take you to where you can get all of the Van Winkle bourbons. You'll pay more than retail, but much less than the Internet auctions sites. Tony
Four Roses yellow label for under $20, not to bad if I do say so myself. I like the pricier Four Roses and had never tried this one.Best regards, Tony
Gillman
In Montreal for a few days, I picked up Old Fitzgerald's 1849. The choice here is quite restricted, plus I hadn't had it in a while. To my surprise it's pretty good, with some good complexity and a pleasant, sweet finish. The flavour is fairly mild, not as intense as the S-W (which IIRC was eight years old), but it's good bourbon, better than in recent years (and it trumps MM in my opinion).Heaven Hill has improved its line IMO in recent years, and maybe the same is happening finally to its wheat-recipe bourbon.Gary

mosugoji64
The wife decided that $30 was a reasonable price to replace my recently departed bottle of M46, so it's back on the shelf. I think I'll keep her.
