Spend a few dollars more and try Four Roses Single Barrel. Bulleit is watered down FR with the price jacked up. You might like the real thing more. As for the Bulleit rye, it's LDI; unless you have no access to any recent young Willet rye, again you're overpaying for watered down, sourced whiskey.

Aaron, thanks for the suggestions, luckily I only bought a 50mL of the Bulleit just to check it out. Not bad just not worth the price. I haven't seen Willet anything around here and there aren't many rye options available either.

Tonight I'm enjoying WT101, my old reliable.

Left the beer alone tonight. Enjoyed a nice four ounces or so of PVW 15 instead. Mmmm mmmm good!

ERSB, ORVW 10/107, & MC. The MC was a surprisingly good bookend for the others. Love that stuff!

All the recent talk about Beam products had me drinking Baker's last night. This bottle has been open ages (like many others in my cabinet) and tasted better than I had remembered it.

Good call there Glenn_B (please don't tell me you are Glenn Beck),...Parker Beam the Master Distiller at Heaven Hill said he bottles all his whiskey with the notion that water be added.

Ha. No not Glenn Beck. I don't think he drinks ... Anymore.

EC12, to me, needs a little water. But not much. I'll keep trying

Today, an extremely healthy pour of Pappy 15 following my earlier pour of Four Roses Single Barrel LE 2009. I just learned that a coworker who I favored very much is leaving our company, and it's affecting me a great deal. Here's to raising my spirits!

Finishing the last of my 200 ml EWB (just in time to fly home tomorrow!) and coming to the realization that the Kentucky Deluxe is ONLY 20% straight whiskey (and 80% GNS). So THAT explains it!

EC12 followed by WT101. It's funny, anything I have after EC12 tastes good, but when I try EC12 after WT101, the EC12 ain't so good. These are my 2 current favorites (only tried OldCrowReserve, JBB, KirklandSmB), but nothing else tastes good after a WT101 pour (except another), so far.

I've already stocked up on EC12, now I think a few more WT101 are needed. Do I really want to go any further upscale, if I'm enjoying these so much?

[Other current holdings (ascending price) - OGD86, BT, JeffSmB, WTRR90, 1792, Blanton, WTRB, EC18, VB17, + some ryes - OO, WTR101, RittBiB, WillettRye 5yr, VR21, VR23 - haven't touched the ryes yet]

Willett Family Estate Single Barrel Rye - 5YO, Barrel #78, Bottle 36/192, 110 proof - Oh my goodness, this is very, very nice, drinking it neat. It has a bit of a lacquer smell but honey, sugar, and spicy on the tongue. It would definitely complement a good cigar. I'm going to have to use this to make a sazerac. And get back to the store tomorrow and pick up a couple more bottles for the stash.

Enjoying a nice pour of GBS EC12. I've determined that I like this best with just a few drops of water.

After spending a lot of time with Ryes the past few weeks, and the past couple of nights have been all about OWA. Maybe it is because I am switching to a wheater after so much Rye, but it is like falling in love with OWA all over again.

Evan Williams BIB 4 yr. Not quite as full and flavorful as the 6 yr, but still a very tasty whiskey.

Started with PHC Wheated, then followed with OWA.

That is a nice time

Long ass work week with much more to do tomorrow but it's only Friday night once a week and the heat has finally broke here too: Pre-fire EC 12, OGD 8 year BIB '79-'87, Very Rare Dowling 16 year '52-'69 (DSP-KY-5), current OWA 8 year SB and ER 101 Frankfort . There may be a few more coming.
