Yeah, but I thought they were the same OBSV 17 yr. They have different releases of that I guess?

Phil, the OC 10 was 85% full and I reached the limit of dissatisfaction, so I topped the bottle with the EWSB 2012. Actually, after a I took a sip from it, I felt it needed more EW so I added a little extra splash and then it was as perfect as I can get it I think. It wasn't random though, I felt that 15% EW was about what was right to diffuse its "extra" woodiness through the leaner OC. I never really liked that particular bottle of EWSB, it was too tannic IMO so now I've got a full bottle of a blend which is better than either IMO.

Thanks for your comments about master vatting! I do have fun with it anyway. :)

Gary

This just proves you are the Master Gary. You took 2 different bottles that you didn't like, and made one that's drinkable and enjoyable. Brilliant

RHF, then FR OBSK, not sure of what's after that yet. Maybe W12 or MM or ER17.. I need more to choose from.

On a side note does anyone get pretty heavy tea-like notes from RHF?? Cause I have been big time lately...

Can't say I find tea in RHF but there's a lotsa stuff in there, it's a very complex Bourbon.

As a long time craft beer drinker, I'm rather new to bourbon. Recently I've taken quite a liking to having a pour of bourbon over a couple cubes of ice. This is tonight's pour:

Welcome, Matt. Brilliant photograph! Looks as good as it tastes. We could use more visual aids in these parts.

Thanks, Barclay! The Four Roses really is a nice, easy drinker. I'll be sure to take a photo of the Prichard's Double Chocolate sometime when I pour a glass (though the bottle is a little less full :)). Here's a shot of the Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve from a few weeks ago:

I really need to invest in a decent set of glasses

Having a small pour of WT 8 yr and WT old no 8, I can not believe the difference between the 2. The 8 yr is delicious, the old no 8 is a decent pour but not nearly as good as the 8 yr.

Ended up going with ER17 after the OBSK. Doing W12 and MM after methinks to celebrate a great Penguins win!

Some Larceny with a splash of Vintage 17. The 17 adds a little age that makes for a pretty darned good pour!

An Elmer T Lee last night before dinner, this bourbon is moving up the charts in my book. I will have to replace it soon as this bottle will soon meet the recycling bin.

Barton Manhattan with lunch, using less bitters now than previously, more inclined to add a touch of some tart liqueur.
