HP12
Does anyone have a list of the ECBP proofs offered at the HH gift shop? I know of the 120.9 bottling. Any idea how many single barrels they've bottled for the gift shop and is it still being offered? Thanks for any info.
393foureyedfox
I'd actually be interested in tasting the 120 proof. The 137 proofer I had bought didn't seem like it should be consumed, maybe 120 would taste more like bourbon than turpentine....

mbroo5880i
Personally, I don't care for the ECBP 137 unless it is cut down to between 105 and 115. It is too woody at bp strength. My preferred proof is around 115, which I get to by mix a 1:1 ration of ECBP/EC12. I can lower it to a little less by tossing in a small ice cube. I like EC12 but bumping up the proof with the ECBP makes it better. Of course, there are some days, that I prefer to cut EC12 with a cube or two. Kpiz
When it comes to whisky the only sin is leaving it to your estate.Whenever someone tells me that I’ll never be able to drink all of the whiskey I own, I tell them, “well, then you’ll be drinking it at my funeral”. But maybe your words are better to live by. After all, why should I reward them for doubting me?
HP12
I don't have a list, but I've personally tried at least 7 different proofs from the gift shop. This was last year before the normal release ECBP came out.Any idea if they still sell the ECBP single barrels at the gift shop? Thx Luther. 393foureyedfox
Did you try cutting it down to 120? I've found it to be extremely tasty for my taste of course when cut down to 120.
boneuphtoner
After reading all of these comments and having absolutely zero luck in finding a bottle, I finally got to try some at Bourbon DC last weekend. WOW! What a bourbon! And after a little calling around outside of Montgomery County, I landed myself a bottle. I'm loving this stuff. At the least, it is my second favorite cask strength whiskey...I prefer it to THH, WLW and GTS, although as I've written here in the past, I'm in the smallest of minorities that does not love Stagg. I have not decided whether I like ECBP better than Bookers, which historically has been my favorite cask strength whiskey.
Flyfish
I have not decided whether I like ECBP better than Bookers, which historically has been my favorite cask strength whiskey.I prefer the one I'm drinking at the time. The ECBP is $15 cheaper than Booker's but much more difficult to find so there are two Booker's in my cabinet and only one ECBP--actually, only about a fourth of one. jeffrey r
So I just did a brief non-blind comparison between batch 1 (134.2) and batch 3 (133.2). Batch 1 has been open a couple of months, batch 3 just opened tonight. Same amount poured into glencairns, left to rest about 10 minutes, then tasted neat, again with 3 drops of water into each, and again with 3 more drops of water into each. I'll leave the tasting notes to the experts, and just focus on my preference. Just my humble opinion, YMMV.Nose was a virtual dead heat, but I gave the slight edge to batch 3. A bit less alcohol, and a bit more vanilla. But very similar.Taste was quite interesting. Batch 1 was huge, bold flavor. Delicious, but with some noticeable molasses on the palate. Batch 3 was still big and bold, but smoother and with more vanilla/caramel than molasses. In the end, despite the accolades for batch 1, I had to give the edge to batch 3. This was with all three variations--neat, 3 drops of water, and 3 more drops. For me, batch 3 took everything that was good about batch 1, but made it even more drinkable and enjoyable.Bottom line, IMHO, these are both A+ bourbons, but I'd give the batch 3 another +...I am happy to have a second batch 1 in the bunker, and glad I had bought a second batch 3. Kind of annoyed I left a third batch 3 on the shelf now, but someone else will enjoy it. That's about it.

I've been waiting for someone to post some notes on comparison of either 1 or 2 to 3. I like both batches 1 and 2 giving the edge to 1. If 3 is better than 1, i'm excited to get some when it shows up!

You seem to feel about ECBP as I feel about GTS. ECBP and Booker's are still my favorite cask strength products. The ECBP is a more interesting and challenging bourbon, but equally enjoyable for me. whiskeyagonzo
I'm with you Fox....I was underwhelmed by the ECBP as well. It's tannic, drier than a popcorn fart, and woody as hell. That's 3 strikes to my palate. That said, I'm willing to give it another shot. I WANT to like it....just had a bad first impression. Maybe the 2nd will be better but I'm not optimistic. I like the sweater, creamier bourbon profiles....not the woody, cottonmouth ones.Want me to bring you a sample Thursday? Are you going to V & T's Christmas party? I picked up a bottle at the HH GS. It's 129.7 proof and I thought it was damn tasty. I haven't really liked a whole lot from HH but I do like this one. Sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind but falling in love and not getting arrested. Hunter S. I have too many bottles open right now and need to work on the others first.I plan on going but probably only for a short time. We'll also see how the little one is doing.Cheers! mbroo5880i
I have never been to the V & T Christmas party but was thinking about it. Do they have pretty good sale prices during the event? I really like the WFE9 they have. I assume the cost is to cover the tastings.
