Which Batch are they up to now. Picked up Batch 10 (138.8 Proof).

Sorry about any confusion - it is age stated "twelve" on the back. It's just not apparent on first glance. I don't know why that do it this way.

Had my first taste last night and it is heavenly. First thing that came to mind was the GTS bottle I got back in 2011. For $50 this is simply a steal. Way to go Heaven Hill.

Just picked up two bottles at NC ABC Chapel Hill for $49.95. I left one on the shelf because I don't believe in clearing shelves - bad karma.

One thing I noticed though, was I couldn't find the age statement. I thought the ECBP juice was 12 years old though, right? Sorry if this has already been discussed.....looking forward to my first sips of ECBP!

Release #11 (139.4 proof, yikes!) just showed up yesterday - $49.99 OTD.  Only three (3) bottles showed up, tho' - now there's only one (1) left (clearing shelves is bad karma).    :(

Time for a SBS tasting between Release #10 and #11.  Now where are those huge spherical ice molds?????

And this is still printed on the back label:  "Bottled straight from the barrel and without chill filtering, the nose, taste and finish from twelve years of aging are presented in their purest form."  So, yes, the juice is still at lease 12 years old.   :D

Thanks for the tip! I've never seen ECBP on the shelf where I live, but I got my brother in Asheville to pick me up a bottle.

They don't see the light of day on a shelf around here.  I managed to grab one yesterday on a blind asking of the store manager.  He went to the back room to get it.  Good stuff for sure.  I did notice the age statement moving to the back label though.  That was the first step to regular 12 year turning NAS.  Let's hope it doesn't happen to the BP stuff, but I'm not holding my breath.

After searching for a year and half for another bottle. I finally found a batch 10 yesterday afternoon. Will enjoy opening that later today.

Outside of the early gift shop only releases and one private selection barrel, the ECBP has never had the age statement on the front label.

I saw one on the shelf today at one of my regular stops.  Unfortunately, it was $89.99, too rich for me!

I picked up a bottle at my favorite local shop last week. First time I've seen it around Mid-MO. He had 2 bottles on top of a display case right next to the check out counter... One went home with me!

Batch #11 seems to be a little more widely available than earlier batches. Maybe this is the upside of EC12 going NAS?

I was wondering the same thing.

I hope that's true. I got a bottle of one of the earlier batches — there were three on the shelf and I stupidly grabbed one! — and haven't seen it since.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a call earlier this week from my LSO (liquor store owner) friend. Apparently one of his distributors changed, and they sent him 10 cases of batch 11 (He would normally get a case or two). He tried to explain to them that it must be a mix-up, but they said "Nope". He basically said to me "just tell me how many you want". I managed to hold myself to two bottles, plus one for my stepson, and one for his best friend. I would have happily taken six myself, but didn't want to be greedy.

Batch 11 is bad karma!!!!

I grabbed one for $51 forgot it in the truck, later that evening opened the back door and the bottle falls out.

As expected it did not bounce well.

Awwww, that is just awful, SN!

I had a similar thing happen to me, albeit about 20-years ago, with my very first bottle of Elijah Craig 12-year.    I didn't wind up replacing it for over a year for fear of angering the fates in some way.

I was able to buy my first ECBP ever in Texas last week.

$65 - so, a dubious privilege, but interesting nonetheless.

Also saw two loitering on a Tennessee shelf yesterday. $70. Left them there. I'd have bought them in the 50s.

They've made a lot of this stuff. Maybe the die hards have finally stuffed their bunkers. Although ETL is probably made in higher volume and they still can't get it on the shelves...

Maybe they've just found out that equilibrium price is at the $70 level?

Yeah, the price has been creeping up around here and it's getting a little easier to find. I'm fine with paying $70 for a bourbon of this caliber. At $45-$50 it was a hell of a bargain.

  • 2 months later...

So, after coming up dry for quite a while I happened to stumble across a few bottles at a nondescript local bottle shop - $65.99, not cheap but I've seen worse.  But it's Batch #10 (138.8), and the reviews I've seen have been decidedly mixed on that release.  Anyone have any recent experience with that batch, or just a general tasting experience?  Much appreciated.
