Yep. They don't put it on their shelves. Had to ask the guy if he had any and he went to look in the back and said he had one left (this was last week).

Unfortunately OGD114 for $29.99. Now I know that is not a lot of money and I can afford it but since it was $21.99 last summer and $24.99 all winter I just didn't feel good about it.

That's quite a hike! I still see it for $19.99 here. Maybe I should stock up.

Passed on a new appearance (Whistle Pig @ eighty-something), McKenna 10yo @$38 and a last-bottle-on-the-shelf of PoH @$111. I was treated to a taste of the last 2 (mighty fine, too), but I put my money on the EWSB04.

It's interesting how the McKenna has ethanol heat throughout, but the PoH only shows heat in the finish.

Stopped by a store I only hit when in the area as I have had some good finds here in the past. However those stops might be coming to an end. Just passed in a bottle of Barterhouse for the wonderful bargain of $199.99!

Passed on an OWA. Shop owner had it behind the counter, said he got a case and was only offering it to his regulars. Didn't ask for the price, just politely told him I really appreciated the offer but I preferred the 12 year old stuff. Bought a more expensive bottle from him instead.

Ran across 5 bottles of Jefferson 21.

Passed at $127.99, even though I like it quite a bit.

Bowman Double Barrel @$75. Was sort of surprised to still see it on the shelf given how high traffic the store is.

Passed up Barterhouse at around $70--just not interested enough at that price. And the new WTRB at $40. Still have a bottle and a half of the 108 proof, but I'll surely pick up some of the new WTRB at some point.

Actually those prices are way more better than what I see.

Back on point Blanton's @ $79.99.

Passed up a bottle of JPS 25 Rye at $170, and didn't think twice about it.

I couldn't agree more - either I've just never gotten a "good one", or it just doesn't suit my flavor profile (likely the latter since enough people with respectable palates do enjoy it). Although I do love the bottle!

I think it has a great mouthfeel and taste, but as soon as it's swallowed, the taste fades and leaves you with a desire for either more, or something else to erase the aftertaste. Not bad, but not great......either way, non-deserving of a $55 price tag, to me at least. But, I've got one friend who thinks its the tops

Passed up some Booker's 25th @99. Tempted but since I've got two stashed and the wife is starting to glare a bit if I mention a new purchase, I'll leave them on the shelf. For now ...

It's funny, Booker's 25th flew off the shelves here but the shine wore off the Barterhouse pretty quick. I'm seeing it discounted down to $67-$69 and sitting. The Blowhard for $150 I've passed on so far because I just don't see the value in it compared to other options. If I see it discounted I may bite just to add it to selection but it will have to be after a good night at poker :)

I am not sure I could pay $150 for any bottle. I am not saying never and I don't question those who do. If Barterhouse dropped into the 40s, I would probably buy one. However, I can still buy a couple of OC10s for less than $40.

If you think of the pricing in terms of buying multiples, you're right - it would never make sense to pay more than $30 for a bottle  I haven't picked up a Barterhouse, but think it is priced fairly for 20 yr old bourbon (heck, EC20 is well above that, and let's not even go to PVW). I was fortunate enough to taste it and just don't like it enough to pay what they want for it. I used to think "I'll never pay more than $100 for a bottle" . . . and then I tried somethings in that price range. At least for me, eventually the discussion in my head turned to "Hell, $200 is drinks/dinner for 2 at a very nice steakhouse . . . but this bottle will be around a bit longer than that!"
