Went into a little shop that usually has pretty good prices hoping to find some OGD114, OWA or Booker's and left with nothing. The OWA was $30, but I can usually find it cheaper. They wanted almost $70 for their Booker's , so I passed on that too. They also didn't have any OGD114, but had a sign in their whiskey section that said "Antique Collection behind counter". So, I decided to see what they had, and if the price wasn't too egregious, I thought I might pick up a WLW since I hadn't been able to score one anywhere. Well, they had them all sitting there, so asked how much for the WLW...$499.99. I told them no thanks, that's ridiculous! Their response was "these are really hard to get." Obviously they haven't been able to sell them at those prices or they wouldn't have felt the need to put up the sign, and they were clearly visible behind the counter. I guess they are hoping some fool with more money than sense will come in and buy these for Christmas.

Passed on a OrVW10 for $400 and a Bookers Toogies for $56.

From what I gather, the MSRP for OrVW10 is supposed to be close to $56 and the MSRP for Bookers Toogies will soon be $400.

Tried a new store in the town I recently took a new job in. Passed on EVERYTHING! 3 examples to drive it home on all tiers. EWBIB @$26. FR1B @ $57 (regular single barrel, not a barrel proof ps or anything) and one lonely GTS at a whopping 799.99. Never set foot in their doors again.

Got a call today from the owner of one of my frequented stores. He said he got 20 bottles of mixed VW and BTAC. He said he has not figured out pricing yet and will call me back. Fingers crossed for retail but not looking good.

At least he/she called.  What you going to do if it is ALL offered at/near MSRP?

I would have a hard time passing on any of them. Maybe one of each. He told me he would for sure sell me a 10 and 12 year. But he was thinking about grouping all of the PVW and BATC as a package. With his history, MSRP is going to be a stretch. You never know though. He might surprise me. I might have to take back my new rifle and scope to keep the wife at bay.

Stopped in my local purveyor's establishment to chew the fat and help him decide how to manage his Booker's inventory.   ..HA!

He again begged me to help him, by grabbing at least one Griffin's Claw.    I stayed firm in my resolve to resist, however.

passed on everything I saw today most because I'm pretty well stocked 4RPS, and SAOS10SB, Booker's being the most notable ones - then also WP BossHog at around $225 just don't have any interest in it

Passed on an EC 18 at $249, Beam Distiller's Masterpiece (don't know which one) $399, Lagavulin 16 (the basic one) $99, Metze's Select $89, the Taylors (except for the rye) at $20 over MSRP, basic BT 750 at $31, . . .  That's about when I stopped looking.

BUT, it does have stuff not readily available locally so I check it out every few months.

Yeah,  sometimes slightly over paying is ok for difficult to find stuff as long as you don't feel like you just visited the proctocologist.

Passed on a gift basket with OWA, WSR and a whiskey glass for $80.  I thought about it since both are difficult to find but ended up passing since I really don't care for WSR and you have to buy them in the gift set.

Had a Booker's in my hand but decided at 64.99 I'd rather have 2 of the 49.99 Stagg Jr's.

I passed on everything this morning. More specifically I waited in line for hours in frigid weather for a release, and got nothing. The store hadn't said how many bottles they had available, and it ended up being a fraction of what they had the year before. Pretty annoying that they let tons of people freeze for hours for no reason.

Yeah..could have at least come out and said..."first xx people in line should stay".  I'm sure they were hoping that those that missed out would feel the need to buy SOMEthing in the store as a consolation.

That's a damn wise choice. The last couple of times I've gone back to Booker's I found that I liked it less than ECBP, Stagg JR., MMCS, Rare Breed, and even JDSBBP. And with the new price on the way, I may never try it again. Why would I possibly!?

Good choice B. I would have done the same thing. Enjoy.

Saw a David Nicholson Reserve(black label rye recipe) for the first time. It was $29.99. I passed on it but I can see it being a future purchase. For what it's worth the guy working the counter said he tried a bottle and enjoyed it. Has anybody here actually given it a go yet?

I prefer the Stagg Jr. even at the same price.  I enjoy Booker's, but think it's behind some of it's barrel proof peers.

Went into liquor store out of town today and walked out with only some bitters.  Things that had some interest but I ultimately passed on were a Whistlepig store select, Whistlepig Old World, and a High West Son of Bourye.

Passed on AE rum cask finished rye. I may yet go back and get it. I checked the rye thread here and it looked mostly positive, but no mention of it for a couple years... any insight into why it seems to have dried up?

Michter's Celebration $5000; didn't know such a thing existed. Local Liquor Barn has at least 1 Hirsch 16 at around $2K; I'd rather get 2 of those classics
