Bourbon in the Movies

Watched the DVD of A Single Man last night. (IMO, noy very good.)

The movie takes place in 1962

(the Cuban Missile crisis can be heard playing in the background).

Yet , in one scene, there is a botlle of Blanton's clearly visible.

The CIA can do anything, even bring future produts to the present time.

We watched that a couple nights ago, but I missed the bottle. Actually Heather just reminded me that we thought he was pouring scotch. Anyway, I thought it was one of the better movies I'd seen in awhile, but I'm a big fan of camera effects (vs. special effects).

Another good one with a similar name and set in the same decade is A Serious Man, the latest Cohen bros. out on DVD. No bourbon scenes that I can remember though, unfortunately.

My wife is becoming accustomed to me stopping any movie where it looks like someone has a bottle of whiskey in a scene.

The latest movie was on tv and couldn't pause that one but it looks like Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump drinks some Old Heaven Hill in a a few scenes.

One in the back of church during a service and another on the shrimpin' boat.

in an episode of Treme, a japanese guy orders Sazerac in one of the main character's bar. and she apologizes and says they dont have anything that fancy.

Sazerac also makes an appearance in the film "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".

OK, cool, I'm glad I'm not the only person that does this.

If you cannot pause live TV, you need to get a DVR and join us in the 21st century. Of course, I say this as someone who still has neither an MP3 player:shocked: nor a navigation device.

The TV interface built into Windows XP MCE, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 is outstanding. As long as you have a TV tuner, it functions better than a TiVO without monthly charges. Best of all, with a plugin called ShowAnalyzer, you can automatically skip the commercials without pressing a button. I haven't watched a commercial in quite some time.

GTS showed up in Sons of Anarchy EP2 2010.

TV I know.

Worst part was he was drinking shots, then he went nuts shortly afterwards. Guess he couldn't handle his bourbon.

Bottle was featured prominently in 2 shots and close enough you could read the words. I'm pretty sure it was a product placement setup.

So drink GTS if your a biker badass with a porn actress GF. A couple kids by another guy........gratis!

Watched the original "Dirty Harry" recently. Harry's boss pulls a bottle of what looks like Very Old Fitzgerald bourbon out of desk about halfway through the movie.

Later the Scorpio killer buys a bottle of Seagram's 7 Crown ("that'll be $5.69") shortly before pistol whipping the store owner with the man's own gun.

Real cool, how many of us would love to do that to a retailer, I know I would.

In director Clint Eastwood's new film, "Hereafter," the Matt Damon character has a bottle of WT Rare Breed on a shelf in his kitchen, but he is never seen drinking it.

In Piranha one of the main characters can be seen filling a canteen from a tax striped bottle of WT shortly before getting a delivery of liquor from him friend. His friend says bourbon as he hands him a bottle but I think it was a bottle of JD Black.

It's not the movies, but the Iron Chef America episode "Cora -vs- Miranda" has bourbon as the secret ingredient.

It is on again at 0100 Eastern time Monday morning and 2100 Thursday if you missed it tonight.

I recognized a label free Blanton's bottle and some Makers in the few minutes that I've seen.

The interesting part is that Alton Brown is referring to the different bottles as rye or wheat bourbon. I'll have to catch the beginning to see how much detail he goes into on the subject.

I'll try to post a link to the episode. They have MM, Blanton's, and Booker's. He refers to both MM & Booker's as wheat bourbon, and the Blanton's as rye.

mmmmmm....I'd love to be judge tonight.

A bottle of MM can be seen on the bar in Bruiser when Henry's boss is hitting on his wife at his BBQ.

In a few scenes a bottle of Jim Beam White can be seen in the bosses office in Stephen King's Graveyard Shift (not to be confused with "Graveyard Shift", in which no bourbon can be found iirc).

Thought that the Iron Chef episode did Bourbon proud. Both chefs knew what to do with what they had.

The host, Alton Brown will drive you nuts with his mis stating the whiskeys used, but that's just the way it is. It would have been much easier had they been able to use the names of the bourbon instead of the wheat/rye, but oh well.

Nice to see Kevin Smith as a judge too.

In tonight's episode of WEEDS Andy goes to a club and there is a bottle of Blanton's on the table. Nicely done.

Looked like there was a bottle of Herradura Tequila Blanco. Some Scotch Whisky but couldn't tell on those either.

I don't know if anyone on here watches It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, but in last weeks Halloween episode, about 3/4 of the way through when Mac was behind the bar, I swear I saw an old SW Decanter.

In the scene just prior, Jax and Clay are seen at the bar speaking to Lin..EC 12, Ri 1 and I think a bottle of BT can be seen.

AS far as shots of GTS, we know better.

In John Grisham's new novel The Confession the governor of Texas and his advisors consume lots of Knob Creek. On special occasions, they pull out the "Pappy van Winkle's".

It's not a movie, but after reading it this week I think it will transfer well to the screen.
