Welcome back! Where you been?

I started a family with the birth of my first born in September 2005 and my second in March 2008. I believe I was registered here before that, but I definitely lost interest in my whisk(e)y hobby due to lack of funds and sleep deprivation back then. Great to be back though - SO much has changed in the bourbon world I am learning!

I was bored at lunch, so might as well go check out Binny's. Picked up a store select OBSO. Look forward to giving this a try tonight, first dabble outside of SmB 4R for me. I've never had great insight into which recipe for a jumping off point. The Fruit and high rye, sound like an intriguing combination for my palate. Here's to hoping I made a good choice.

Really can't go wrong with any of the recipes IMHO. I'm a big fan of the OBSO I've had.

I was in my local shop last night looking around for something new. A sales rep asked if I needed help so we got to chatting and I asked him if/when they would get in the Weller expressions. He tells me they are at the front desk and would not be placed on the shelves with the other bourbons. It seems they only get one 6 bottle case of the Weller 12 and Weller Antique. I also found the Eagle Rare 10 is at the front desk and not listed on their website. They are limiting customers to one bottle so at least I went home with 3 new friends. Several expressions that I am wanting to purchase are not sold in the state of Arizona and our laws prohibit me shops in other states from shipping those to me... that kinda sucks. :soapbox:

Good thing you asked. Well done.

Picked up a Smooth Ambler Contradiction. Tasted it a while ago and liked it. I've been staring at the bottle for a few months and finally pulled the trigger

Went back and got the last two bottles of W12 and low an behold there were three bottles of OWA (yes I'm one of those bastards). In order to fill the case I went ahead a picked up my first bottle of 1792 sw.

Saw a row of 9 year old 2005 EWSB, but behind those were two bottles of 10+ year old 2004 EWSB, so I picked those 2004's up. Always like those 10 year old bottles of EWSB, and even better when they have a few more months on them.

Package just arrived at the office. I had to shop online to do it, but with the addition of an OESF recipe Four Roses, I've finally completed my quest to obtain all 10 recipes. Of course, I'm close to finishing one of them, so I may have to replenish at some point in the near future if I want to maintain that status.

2 bottles of Rittenhouse Rye BIB and a bottle of John J Bowman... Can't find Weller 12 anywhere around here, and all the shop owners are telling me they aren't aware that they can even get it. So freakin' jealous...

Not a bad friday morning

Very nice! Hoping to find some Weller 12 reasonably priced when I come to Kentucky for the KBF in a few weeks.

Stopped in for a couple more bottles of Balcones Rum (one for a friend), and got talked into trying out the Woodford Reserve DOSB.

I'm not really a huge WR fan, but I'll give it a shot.

Heading north, squire? You're welcome to come by. What, the heck, I'm leaving work right now. Should be home in about half an hour if anyone else wants to stop by.
