squire
Oh, and the reason why Pappy Van Winkle chose wheat instead of rye for his Bourbon was not because wheat made a better whisky, rather because he believed wheat recipe Bourbon aged faster than rye recipe Bourbon and being a start up operation right after Prohibition he wanted to get his whisky on the market fast.A lot of this talk I've been hearing about young Rye aging fast is coming from folks who have young Rye for sale. Quintilian
On my way to Indianapolis this afternoon, I realized I hadn't packed my shaving cream and razor. Stopped by a Target get that stuff, but on the way back I stopped by Plainfield Discount Liquor (out by the airport) and found some HHBiB6yr on the shelf. They had five. I grabbed three of them for $9.99 each. I've seen others sing HHBiB6yr's praises, I can't get it in my area, I've never had it, I enjoy HH products, and the price was right. Great find for me. RiverRat
A pair of Weller 12s, one FR OBSF (despite normally being a K and V yeast guy) and one SAOS SiB/Cask Strength Rye before it dries up.
BFerguson
Not a buy per se, but my BIl gave me a bottle of Jeffersons Ocean. While not something I'd typically purchase, I will happily drink it. Now, the 13+yr old bottle of KC that he preordered for me, that, I'm excited in trying.....B

latech15
Apparently a large amount of Weller 12 hit the market this week. I got two from one shop and got the call that they are holding three bottles at another shop for me.If you are in search, you might want to hunt hard this weekend. Ravensfire
Store pick of Four Roses. They got two barrels - OBSV and OESV. Flipped and coin and took dthe OBSV home. Once I get an open bottle or two finished the other one will join it.
Tony Santana
Store pick of a Jefferson's Reserve (Very Old, Very Small Batch), that I thought was good, but not so good I had to run back and buy several more bottles (as discussed on another thread). Saw a lonely JTS Brown on the bottom shelf, never had it before, thought I'd give it a try. Surprisingly good - if we want to talk quality/price ratio, it was stellar. Then a store pick of 1792 (haven't opened it yet) and a Smooth Ambler Rye, 7 years. Getting much harder to find.

MOwhisky4me
The WalMart I typically shop at is clearing out their stock of Weller Special Reserve. They only carry it in 1.75l size and had them marked at $30... So a couple of those came home with me today.

I dig it, and at $30 for the family size, a no brainer. Well done!
KyleCBreese
Down in NC for vacation and picked up a Virgin 101. My first time having it.
latech15
I tend to agree. WSR is a great "first pour" of the day. The price is certainly attractive as stated earlier. I don't have any shortage of Weller products at my house, and none of them are my go to pours, but they are good fill-ins between the 4roses and the EC's. DonutsNBourbon
didn't get to pick up anything while going through Narita Airport in Tokyo (saw IW Harper 12, but thought I would get a chance to purchase on the way back home but wasn't in the same part of the airport), so I stopped by costco and picked up a booker's center cut and an EC12 for the bunker. can't beat the costco prices!
